The Combo Club

Just ordered an ebay used Fender Rumble v3 40W combo. ... For home use I've always preferred convenient combos over separate head/cabinet rigs; t'is easier to move one thing out from under my desk for playing than two, and a small head can easily get knocked offa the top of a speaker cab when moving things around too! I like to keep things simple and easy, y'know? ;>})

Sure, I'd like a club number. Will photo the Rumbler 40 when it arrives too.

I'm beating the Christmas rush and issuing a brand new number right this minute. Greywoulf, you are now #156 and I couldn't be happier about it. Snap that new combo when she comes in and post away. Congrats!

... ... ... Combo Club news::: :hyper: ~I bought the Orange Crush 1x8 25W bass combo when I was at GC. When it gets delivered I'll post a pic and request a club number... :D

OK I suppose it's combo club 'cheating' if I get a TC Bam200 mini head (again), and duck tape it on top of the 16lbs Elf 300W 1x10 cab I have? (-Never shoulda sold that little Bam200..:banghead: ) I think maybe that might solve my 'combo type' portability problems nicely, even iffen I don't get a club number here? :bag: ... ... ...

Well, I do have a Vox VX B50 combo now... ~But me requesting a club number wouldn't be copasetic as I'm gonna return it soon. I'm quite happy just to be a guest here, thank you...

Geez, if I'd of thought people here were gonna get so seriously involved with all this no-combo-yes-combo stuff I'd never have posted here (in honest FUN -remember FUN, guys?) about my playing around (remember 'play'?) with a cobbled together self-designated 'combo'. ~ ... ... ... I don't give a good you-know-what about any minor and unimportant club number issues! o_O ... ... ...

Hmmmmm, most confusing... Especially since I have no recollection if ordering a Fender 40 or of having one? If I did I guess I didn't like it and didn't keep it. -But geez, that must've been many many years ago?
And I wonder how many of you on this thread wouldn't have contradictory posts if I went back over the years and combed thru everything you posted? -G-Dog, this seems like sort of a personal attack to me? ~And I don't think I personally attacked anyone here, did I?????? :(

So anyway it seems I am member #156 of this elite club from past possessions of combos? (I did indeed enjoy having a Rumble for a while, but t'was a 25). I guess this makes my day, makes me extremely happy, my dreams have been answered, and my life on TB now feels fulfilled!
Also I was at GC today returning that really awful (IMO) Vox VXB50 combo and I did test the new Fender Rumble 40. ~Really nice combo, seemed better than past models (IMO), and it was extremely lightweight too! --But I'm still gonna create my own version of a 'combo using a Bam and an Elf... -I hope that doesn't strip me of my cherished #156? :bawl:

No, Grey, there have been no personal attacks that I can see. But, I think you have been a bit overly defensive about all the no-combo-yes-combo business that has been going on here for years without you and simply got resurrected again, it doesn't matter by whom. It will likely resurface again and again in the future. It gives us something to debate about, all in good fun. :D

Ironically, it seemed as if your Combo Club membership hung on what gear you were about to get now, when that question was actually settled years ago! But nobody realized that 'til I checked the Combo Club Membership List and re-posted the posts around that time. No attack, just laying out the facts not previously brought out in evidence. No foul to anyone not remembering all this, much less for any inconsistencies. That's what the search function is for, to help refresh our humanly imperfect memories. Again, all in good fun. :smug:

This is supposed to be social media, not anti-social media. None of it is really worth getting upset about. The site rules require civility, lest the ban hammer be brought down. Therefore, agreeing to disagree is always the "order of the day" on TB. ;)

That's the spirit, Grey! Whether tongue-in-cheek, or not, no one needs to know!

I've never read of anyone being kicked out of TB club before. In fact, some who submitted themselves for ostracism because they no longer owned the gear that the club exalts are more often confirmed as members for life, on the chance/probability that they someday may re-own said gear, :roflmao:

I’m not aware of any rule requiring a rescinsion of membership due to temporary lack of an official combo, but the number oughta be in your sig. I’d say you’re a member in good sitting (squatting, lying down, whatever) for now.

To be pedantic, it’s a forum, not social media. :smug::whistle::p

OK, all good points; I guess I did take the Great Combo Debate too seriously and was too defensive about it...
And with me there's certainly always the chance I will re-own previously dis-owned gear! {In fact the Bam200 is an example of that right now!} :D And that new Rumble 40 combo? Who knows? (-The Shadow Knows.... -Yah Ha Ha He Hah!!)
I do a lot of experimenting, changing, and hopefully growing (sometimes). But I also sometimes envy those who can stay with gear they like for a long time. ~Me? ~I'm always on the quest... ~Where's that perfect fitting and playing bass? ~Where's that amp (or combo) with the perfect tones?
~Something right around the corner may be better! :hyper:
-And it usually is too, until it isn't.... :p

got the promethean and have a 2-combo setup now :)

the warwick is clean / just overdriven and the promethean gets the effected signal

OK, I haven't listed my PF-20T in the TB classified section here yet, but I figure on asking what I paid for it.. -Which was $575 plus free shipping to the lower 48.
-I'll post some pictures of it in the classified section soon; it's in just about new condition AFAIC.
I well know with my shipping costs and and the tax I paid I'll lose some $$ on this deal, but I'm considering it as 'rent' paid for the chance to try out this very fine tube amp!
