Okay, now that we know more about the backstory. It'd be like me talking you into the v3 Rumbles sounding exactly the same as the v1 Rumbles...not a chance. Ask Miles for some club money (he knows where it's at), fly to Germany, head to Hagenau, Bavaria (grab some pastries while you're there), and ask the factory to allow you to sample their wares. You may think then it's not quite your Filipino balsawood bass.
And tell him to book ya first class!
We spent all the club money on the ad campaign that bumped us from 272 members to 273.

By the way, today is NEW AMP DAY and yes, it’s a combo! I’ll be opening up the box after my favorite June television program is over. Above is my evidence that the CC has its first Katana bass combo available for discussion.
LOL, this video was what convinced me that the D4 was what I was looking for. Well, this video and a certain gtrplyr that lurks here sometimes.After hearing this very enjoyable comparison I wasn't much impressed with the PJB. And I thought the Markbass sounded the best of any of 'em. -Would've loved to have heard an Orange Crush 25w 1x8 stuck in among the middle of these tho...

As we've said, different goals and tastes. To me, the D4 is an amazingly clean and surprisingly powerful piece of kit. It was what I wanted and I'm still in love with it. In fact, time for me to go pull it out and play along with The Beatles!
The D4 is a great practice amp for electric bass and would work well live with a double bass.
The Markbass 801 hasn’t the clarity of the D4 but has more bottom end. For duos, the 801 is the better choice. I’ve tried both, and kept the 801, it’s not perfect, but it gets the job done and you can even add an extension speaker to it. It’s freakishly good, actually.

You are safe @RodRy...I have everything I have wanted since the 60s. P with J neck, Ampeg 20T and all the stuff in my sig. It will take a very long time for me to use all this equipment to its fullest. In the meantime, you are free to go for the green

Got to GC today.... They had to straighten out something on my Musicians Friend bill and it took forever on their computer. This gave me a chance to play all the hand drums in the place and also try out the Gretsch Jr. Jet. It was this strange pink color... I usually don't like pink BGs but this pink had a lot of yellow in it; ~in fact it looked to me just like the color of a Crayola flesh color crayon... I liked it... Wouldn't buy one tho; with my Cat and Mustang basses I feel pretty much complete in the short scale department. Plus the Jr. Jet felt just a little too wide in the neck for me, and it did have some annoying diving aspirations...

SR, the hernia that I suspect I received from taking said combo out of the box would prove it wasn't empty. Pics to follow.
Congrats to Greywoulf on his Orange score today. May you enjoy your combo for many years, or in my case, many weeks. don't forget to give it the gas and stretch out that speaker before deciding on its sound.
As for me, the pics below prove that yes, there was indeed a combo in the box and it's the BOSS Katana Bass 110. Tipping the scales at a svelte 37 lbs, the Katana proved either a) I'm old, b) I've softened terribly, spoiled by lightweight combos and separates the past few years, and/or c) all of the above. I don't foresee taking this anywhere other than to the other side of my room, but in a pinch, or if I want the effects to go with me somewhere, It'd be no problem.
In defense of the weight, BOSS/Roland is well-known for solidly-built products that last a good long time and I feel this one will be no exception. It's a 60-watt, Class AB amplifier, that is supposedly multiple times more powerful, hence volume, than its comparable Class-D competitor. While I am skeptical of everything, I'll play along and give it the shakedown in the coming days and find out. I'll be happy if it rivals my Rocket Bass 112 in the volume department and be ecstatic if it sounds good in a recording.
Using their Tone Studio Library, I can tap into over 60 effects. Though I'm known as someone who would rather play music than play with toys, I decided to give this one a shot since I'm not totally crazy about my VOX FX pedal for serious recording. Again, time will tell if she stays with me or not, but I like what I see so far and am ready to dive in with four strings to hear what it's like.
I will update you as the journey unfolds. Pics are below to prove the box wasn't empty in case GP was busy considering what kind of feline we owned...
