If you put a cat in a box in 1935, I can tell you with certainty that anno 2022 this cat is dead.
Maybe if *you* put the cat in the box in 1935 that's te case.
This cat is dead, but that cat is alive and playing the heck out of a cat-sized bass through a 2x2 combo. Although Suzi Quatro wasn't born until 1950, so you must be doing the time warp (again).

My Cat bass is very alive and well
in all the multiverses
and is online in less than a week (PJB combo DI -> DAW e-i-e-i-o) as I woodshed some James Jamerson for our group. I know it's a short scale that's as far away from a P bass as possible, but it'll cop the whole vibe with its deep tone cut setting and the NordyMute. The actual responsibility for all the notes in the right order, and the right note duration, and right articulation, and right groove, is (unfortunately) mine

Granted, I have not tried the 801 (or any Markbass) so I read your words with great interest on that matter. From my lived experience, I find the D4 to be freakishly good for the guitar/bass duo I lately find myself in. I've played my short scale P-bass Samick with flats, and my active Carvin LB70 fretless, and they both sound fantastic through the D4 and support the guitar (12 string acoustic) better than any other amp I've played.
Clearly, we are loving different things in tiny amps, and to that I say, vive le difference!

P with J neck, Ampeg 20T and all the stuff in my sig. It will take a very long time for me to use all this equipment to its fullest. In the meantime, you are free to go for the green.

I haven't used any PJ amps/speakers but one place I played a few times had a MB 102 Kickback, and it worked just great for me.

The amp sits on an Auralex Sub Dude isolater to prevent physical coupling to the floor. That stops bass frequencies resonating the floor and getting into mics via stands. Under that is a mat to keep the Sub Dude clean.

- Confusius is not the best name to make clear statements, not even around 500 BC
- Relativity is a joke invented by Galileo Galilei in 1600 AC but that is irrelevant now.
- The man with the cat and the box started his experiment in 1935 AC.
This does not change the fact that the cat is dead.
If she was meant to survive until now, she would have been crushed on day one by the amount of food she needed to cover this period.
