The Combo Club

I recently found out that @alaskaleftybass (Will Hanbury CC #49) died - back in summer of 2021.

He was so full of life

He was a great contributor to the GOF's Club before it was terminated.

What's that?

Grumpy Old Farts was a thread for musical people to grump about non-musical things. Will grumped well.

We grumped about musical things as well.

The GOFs was a very enjoyable, and often educational, but also misunderstood, Club here on TB. Lots of well-meaning folks there, but eventually rubbed the wrong people the wrong way.

A heart attack, we learned.

I remember feeling quite shocked to read of Will's passing. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/r-i-p-alaskaleftybass.1525996/. :smug:

One should really follow this link. Will was a thoughtful, caring person who love his wife, family, music and heritage. He and I had many discussions on GOF's and PM. Every time I think of him and those great ones who have passed, I think of this tune...

Going for both, but there's no point in long time if it's not a good time. (Definitions of "good time" can be all over the map.)

@LoveFingers you are now member #311.
@SharpCat you are member #312. We'd still like to see your combo, please!

We'd also love to hear your stories - your combo journeys, bass journeys, whatever else you'd like us to know (within TB rules 8^).

Welcome, and play on!
Will provide pic soon. It'll look JUST LIKE a Rumble 40.

Thank you Miles.

This is my very first combo, Bass as well (Squier CV60s JBass). I'm just starting to learn the instrument by myself, but I plan to find a teacher soon. I've been a musical enthusiast all my life. I love to collect and discover new music regularly. My collection is all digital. I sold my CD collection a long time ago and I'm not going back. I'm a sound technician although I don't work as such and have a little music production knowledge.

It's nice to be part of this Forum a be able to learn, share and discuss the things I like most.

Welcome welcome welcome!
This is a pretty laid-back group who are pretty happy to provide guidance and friendship. Kinda like another group you may have fun with: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/the-mediocre-bassist-club.1148401/page-3547#post-27919878

Cool! What is/are your favorite style/s? Who are some influences? Which Rumble was that?

In sort-of actual combo news

There is absolutely plenty of room in the boot of my new (new used, lol, 2013 low miles) Audi A4 2.0 Turbo Quattro for my PJB BG-400 combo and C4 extension cab. Plenty of room. And nothing in sight of any random passerby. Also, plenty of room in the rear seats for Odin (who is a devoted fan).
