I'm thinking more like a 6.5"/3", or possibly an 8" coax. 2X8 won't really be appreciably smaller than what I already have. But I'm still hoping to find an off the shelf solution for this one. I'll bite the bullet and hit GC and a few local stores in the next few weeks and see what shakes out.

I agree! Sounds exactly like Rumble Stage 800 to me, too!!
Fearless Leader is taunting me, his most loyal of comrades! He know I covet Rumble Studio 40, so he get biggest and best Rumble Stage 800, which is most fitting for His Excellency. It even come with most helpful and cool 4-button footswitch, included, for tuner and quick settings changes.
Fearless Leader truly has good taste in combos!

I did it for you, 'Dog. You've been mentioning the Stu-Stu-Stu-Studio (Phil Collins reference) for a while now and I thought I'd honor your influence in my decision. Also, I figured you guys would take my secret decoder ring away if I didn't do something spectacular after the abominable snowman routine with my Acoustic combo, which by the way, you people have been incredibly nice to me about, not reminding me with large images of it so all could mock.
