The Combo Club

Of course not forgetting the largest combo club on TB...The Fender Rumble Club. I would love a number also please.

My days of toting around 100lb plus bass stacks are over. Now days if it weighs more than 50lbs it belongs to someone else. This guy weighs 38lbs, puts out more volume than I though possible from 250w, and can handle most any gig I'll ever play these days. If it takes more the FOH PA will handle it or I'll rent a backline stack.
OMG, I'm looking like a thread killer here. To be honest, I'm a little surprised this "club" fight take off. I mean, I'd think most everyone would possess at least one combo amp, and I believe the OP was sincere in starting this place for combo amp owners.
Unless someone else is interested, I'll throw my hat in the ring and offer to become caretaker of the club and its numbering system. I'm off for the summer (elementary teacher) and would be willing to at least update the club numbers.
I won't do it without at least a few of you who are interested in keeping this exclusive club going giving me a thumbs up. That way it doesn't look like an overthrow. Maybe even the OP would chime in.
I've got a new amp coming in tomorrow; a combo of course, so maybe it'd be a good time to revive the Combo Club.
Do your part and let me know!

Fantastic! Glad to see some life in this club again, and it's great that you're interested in picking up the slack.
You're probably right about almost everyone owning a combo, at least for practice purposes, and therein lies the problem - it's often regarded as a practice amp, and not a serious rig. Well, this club is the place for all of us who beg to disagree, and our numbers are growing. So it's a very good time indeed for reviving the club!
Oh - and if you're passing out club numbers, I'd be happy to take one off your hands. Didn't get one when I joined a couple of years back
That's great you're willing to become the caretaker, a lot of combo owners are gigging with them these days so there should be enough support.
PS: I did that for the lefties club a while ago - not too much work though now, no new contenders lately. Many more combos sold than lefties joining TB, I would say
You have my vote...all kinds of potential here for content. For example, highlight classic combo's of the past, new favorites, combos seen on stage by big acts, etc....
For the record, I joined fairly early and have a GK MB212-II....it's lightweight and fairly portable, but also a 500 watt beast that capable of tremendous volume. I'm favoring my Rumble rig these days, but the GK MB's are a solid combo for sure. I had a Peavey TNT100 growing up...I remember it sounded a bit steril, weighed a ton...but was dam near bullet proof.

Well, I asked for a vote of confidence and definitely received it! Thanks to all those who either wrote me or posted here in this forum. What i plan to do is go through all the back pages and create a new list, attempting to get unload name duplication. If I see conflict I'll be sure to notify those involved. Otherwise, I'll use some good old Iowa common sense and make a decision. Continue number requests and I catch up at some point.
As for basic rules, I'd like to follow the OP's (ChefKen back in 2015) original intent: 1) Pride in combo ownership, 2) no brand bashing (I'll further explain), and 3) gotta have a pic to get a number.
First, #1 is self-explanatory, but deserves mention. I'd like to alter his "Main Rig" thought to become "if you use a combo as well as separates, regardless of it being your main rig or not." The reason why is many of us use both in certain situations and it just makes sense not to alienate anyone. We have enough of that in our world without the Combo Club adding to it. Basically, if you use a combo amp for practice, jamming with the buds, or on stage, you're welcome, regardless if it's your main weapon of choice.
Second, #2 is a biggie that we have to adhere too if we're all gonna get along. We're combo crazies, not prudes. From this point on brand bashing is off limits. Maybe it's not even been a problem, I have to read the posts, but leave the "my brand is better than your brand" at the door, and I'm including myself as well. I've been known to fling poo as certain brands/groups as retaliation for the same thing, but no more, I promise. We're a unique bunch, folks, with bass players being some of the nicest people I've ever come across. We can be better. Now that doesn't mean you can't say that you had bad luck with a certain brand or model, or that you personally don't recommend a combo amp, but negative attitudes need not apply, and I hope you agree with me. 'Nuff said.
Finally, though a picture is the price of admission, as was stated by ChefKen, if you'd like to tell us about an old amp you owned before cameras were invented, go for it! If you're like some, you're already on your umpteenth amp since you originally got into this club and have multiple pics on the board. No problem. The first one gets you recognized.
This revised club has the potential to become one of the largest clubs on Talkbass, if anything due to the large number of combos out there. It's been neglected the past couple of years through no fault of anyone, but it'd be nice to see it updated and maybe increase in numbers. No, the Rumble Club is probably out of reach (unless they all join our club!), but we can do the combo amp proudly with some renewed vigor and someone with a little free time to be caretaker. Let's see what it can do, shall we?
So tell your friends and neighbors, the Combo Club, four years old and counting, is once again open for business! I'll try and have an updated list for you in a few days so click on "Watch Thread." BTW, it's NAD for me today and I'll be sure to post my addition so I can get a number.

+1 and I agree with the above statement 100%. I was initially given #4, but will take whatever number you provide to align with the new scheme. Here is my pic...GK MB212-ii....a great beast of a combo, a Diamond compressor really warms it up.
