Awesome amp - I used mine live again a couple of weeks ago - no PA, it was more than adequate, though I wish I had turned up a bit, but no soundman to help us with stage balance - one of the guitarists was TOO LOUD as I found out later by the recording I made, but I don't plan with playing with him anymore.
(Bass was going through the GK, bass pedals triggering an MFB Synth Lite II module & kick went through the JBL EON)
My Bassman 25 weighs 33#, my R40 weighs 18#.

hiero, nice to see ya! It's been a while since you've graced us with cool pics like this one. That rig looks like it means business. I saw today there's a guy looking for an amp and the later pages have been very pro-GK. You outta jump in on that action if you so desire. I'm just shocked at the sticker price increases of their amps, especially the combos. My little MB108 of a couple of years ago has nearly doubled in price and I don't see a larger driver or more powerful amp inside. What gives, h?

TBH, a waste of our time and their money. This was for a country club golf tournament awards luncheon. We were outside in a pavilion, they were inside in the AC. After eats and awards, most of them went home b4 the T-storms arrived. They let us go early since there was no one there. They like us but we were totally unnecessary. Oh, well, take the $ and run.
Sorry to hear about that, GP, but the good news is you did make reference to a great Steve Miller song from a favorite album of mine. So the day wasn’t a total loss AND you didn’t get rained on. You also proved to the youngins out there that bring a glamorous musician isn’t always what it’s chalked up to be.
I’d say you had a terrific day!
So I did search for an answer to the construction material of the v2 combo amps; at least for the BA210 and assuming that includes the rest of the line: “The rugged 15mm poplar ply enclosure features and all-metal amp chassis and protective metal corners.”
What’s great about it is the amp feels sturdy, even though it adds some beef.

A country club gig means the band has to dress for the part and they drop you outside in August in Florida. Nice going, nobby country club management.
No, M, you gave it all wrong. In between sets they had added the band as wait staff and GP was delivering cocktails.

This darn 'Dog is draggin' his waggin' tail today. It's time to recupe!
The regular Sunday morning gig went great! New CC song-o'-the-month along with a couple other highly-harmonized, well sung, songs went over very well. Even Mrs. Dog was very complimentary, and she's my harshest critic! Then played along, with unusual confidence, to the traditional hymns in the regular 11am service. A peaceful glow ensured.
So, I wandered over to the Fellowship Hall and donated blood. "Eat a good meal and drink more fluids than usual", they said. "Oh, I always do", thought I. Mrs. Dog always has a sumptuous Sunday dinner ready when I get home, since she doesn't stay for the 11am service (same sermon).
Oh, but not this day! She has put up with the 'little', old, massive, 20" CRT TV in place of her nice 55" LCD for a whole week while it's being repaired. "It's a Trinitron!", I had told her last weekend, "The best CRT TV ever made!", I implored. "The colors are horrible and it's so small it hurts my eyes!", she says. Having been such a good patient thru both cataract surgeries a few months ago, she knows I value her eyes. "Best Buy is having a sale!!", she continues, "And they have this one in stock!!", she lifts her laptop to show me. "I called and they're holding it for me!!!", she effused. I now see the analogy between amp and TV technological evolution and recall her support of my Class D acquisitions.
It's not the weight of the new LED TV, per se, but that it can't use the same wall mount! No standardization there, even in the same brand of mount. Thankfully, the 17-year-old grandpup was available, and willing, to help, measure, unscrew, drill, rescrew, and hang the new TV. I gratefully thank him and blame my more supervisory role on blood donation (wink, wink). He winks back. Mawmaw Dog gives him way too much "gas money" for driving the 2 miles to our house from his.
Thus the guestroom will get an upgrade to the older LCD when it's repair is done. Grandpup is on call for another wall mount 'party'. Mrs. Dog is happy. Grandpup is happy. G-Dog is exhausted, but serene.
So, go ahead. Summon Phil, the Prince of Insufficient Light to "darn me to heck", if you want. Today, instead of yesterday, is my day of rest. No insanely lifelike graphix being produced this day.

It is weighty but when you do a complete inside and out review of the combo you begin to realize no expense was spared. All those massive magnets, all the internal bracing, and quality top-shelf components used thru-out were hand-picked by Phil. Some compromises in the weight department had to be made. Personally, I am ok with this. Anyone who owns the BG400 knows nothing topples it in its size class. These little 12x13x14 cubes really deliver. Sure you can find a bigger better sounding cab or combo but it will always be larger. I have several rigs to choose from. Small-Medium-Large depending on venue size. Options are good to have
G’Dog, instead of an impressive graphic, you treated us to a hilarious tale of TVs, helpful grand tots, and damsels in distress. Your worship session sounded terrific...congrats! I’m guessing the Studio 40 did the heavy lifting?
When the Mrs. does all that bird dogging you have no choice in meeting GP the obligation. On the bright side, Mama gets a new tube and you’re the hero (along with your grandkid) of the day. So with that, feel free to lallygag today, but be back to work bright and early tomorrow. When ya open up, throw an extra piece of coal in the stove to shake off the morning chill...

L! "Rumble Studio 40" and "heavy lifting" in the same sentence?!? Yes, well, I had my choice; I coulda used my Fender B-DEC 30, which is loaned out to my young bass protegé and was already in place and hooked up to FOH from Wednesday night youth practice. I was tempted, but did supplant it with my Studio. I'm sorry, not sorry, that #9 "Deep Rumble" preset is just so perfect for so many songs, IMHO..
Man?!? This is Oil (pronounced "All") Country! And we're still 4 months away from any "morning chill"!!! We had some temps, and humidity(!), down in the low 60s a couple weeks ago (dunno how that happened!) and I was "the hero" of the backyard for those few days, weeding, digging, hauling in support of Mrs. Dog's gardening efforts. Actually spent all 3 days, all day, out there into the high 80s & 90s afternoons, though still low humidity (for us). That, too, warranted a recupe day!
I will be back in my cubicle at The Clubhouse tomorrow. Just don't expect much else, though.
