Yep, it is! It looked at me like this when I walked in...Quite a rig for $285.
I couldn't resist...I wasn't even in the market, but couldn't pass it up

I originally gigged with combos, first a Roland then an Ashdown 500 with a 15. Really loved that Ashdown. Should not have sold it. Always considered going back to a combo as it's just easier for me to deal with. But Talkbass indicated this was a catastrophic mistake, what could I be thinking? After many years of seperates I picked up a Markbass CMD151P Jeff Berlin. I like the Little Mark amps, I don't like tweeters and I find a single 15" speaker with a decent amp covers most of my needs. Musicians Friend had a great sale on this combo last month after I liquidated a bunch of gear. So I picked one up.
Had it a month, played at low volume gig and after this past saturday one loud gig. It sounds great and will work for me. I will eventually get the match additional 15 cab but likely won't need much at all. This combo also has a perfect spot to keep my high pass filter in the effects loop and out of the way.
This little box really checks all the... boxes for me. I've had some really great amps. But this guy and a bass is a super easy load in and just sounds great.
The combo below isn't mine (just for reference) but the pic with the HPF is.

..., "I'm cleanink up the laundromat", ... honor the order of the membership requests, .... loopee, you're #151 and slapshot, you're #152. Tad rounds us out at #153. Change your sigs if you've already added your number to it. Now if, for some strange reason, I'm still off, please let me know ASAP. I think we're good now. ... ...
We're proud to include aproud1 to our roster of combo-loving bassists. Congratulations, you are our 152nd member since 2015. Whew!

I think bass players are pretty neat![]()
That’s ‘cuz you have the club’s Eastern European super spy cleaning up your establishment! Bass players are cool though!
They call it a practice amp.
and it is. The Ampeg BA108v2.
Here on the Isle of Everywhere the BA108 is perched to my on top of a Phil Jones Cab 27 driven by an Elf on top. "An Elf on top" sounds like the catch line of a pop song... The Phil Jones BG-400 and C4 are directly behind me. All of which makes it pretty easy to compare amps.
Over yonder there's a live thread about whether all that really matters in a live setting. Which is a great deal more lively than a dead setting, not to be confused with a Dead setting where the sound is magnificent. And when I plug into the little Ampeg, is the sound magnificent?
What it is, to my ear, is clean and sweet. The big Phil Jones combo is crazy authoritative. There's no way a 99 dollar practice amp can do that. What the little Ampeg does and does really well (for me) is it plays with a great deal of clarity at low volume. Which is exactly what I need at 7 am. And, in truth, any time I am actually practicing.
The PJB has lows that reach beyond Sunday. A D played at the 10th fret is a physical experience as much as a hearing journey. That's where you go, tanj, this is a sweet bass. What I hear in the BA108 on a 10th fret D is clean and articulate without the Mount St Helens of the Phil Jones. I do dial in some extra bass on the amp, and it stays clean (in part, I suspect, because a a HPF in the signal chain). One wonders what wonders an upgraded speaker would bring to the party.
And even with all the firepower available to me, I find myself plugging into the Ampeg a great deal more than one may reasonably expect. The BA108 would be a perfect fit in a very small room and none (but me) would be the wiser in the absence of seismic activity.
Are there any tours of the Isle of Everywhere? I’d love to have tea there.
