The Combo Club

Hey, @Giffro, I heard that up to 90% of the firefighters in Oz are unpaid volunteers. If that is true, they deserve special recognition.
Yep SR tha's true..a lot of unpaid volunteers although there is a political call out now from the opposition (the political party not in power at the moment) to pay these volunteer firefighters now...they deserve a decent pay for risking their lives SR

The MFS which stands for Metropolitan Fire Service are the usual firemen and on a wage fighting fires or not fighting fires, so they are paid weekly in every state of Australia.
The CFS which stands for Country Fire Service is manned by mainly volunteers and unpaid although the call is out right now to have that changed as at least 3 have now died (1 here in my state of SA) in the past month fighting fires and risking their lives.

Being on Page 1 of TB Amps and Cabs Thread 95% of the time shows a lot about the owners, users and contributors to this forum, so heading into the New Year, I wish to thank all users and owners of combos for helping to make this forum a great meeting place for other owners and users of all types of Combo Bass Amplification.
A special thank you to G-Dog the Combo Club Wiki "Librarian Of Unlimited Excellence" for his informative Wiki notes and details on the club.
A Very special thank you to our Fearless Leader, iagtrplyr (Mike) who revived this dead Forum, renamed it and expanded upon it with his untiring diligence to make this Club the success story it is today.
There are many others of you to thank for your support in keeping this Club one of the best on TB as a place to come to and relax, have a giggle, show us what gear you own, get advice from similar owners, and have a no hassle time with all the members here. Pat yourselves on the back every Member of the club for making it a wonderful success, as every one of you is part of the Combo Club success story.
It is New Years Eve countdown shortly here in South Australia, well in actual fact about 9 hours away loll..but ahead of most of the world, so to all club members and visitors, have a very safe, healthy and wonderful 2020.
Giff (Club Humourist lolll).

Aussies are big on community service. We also have the State Emergency Service Volounteers. However these and the CFS/RFS were designed for relatively short time scale disasters not the on-going terrors we are now seeing from the climate crisis.

The Fender does have a 15 and is 25 watts I believe. The H&K has a 12. I'm not sure of the watts. Now the Sorin has the H&K the other guitar player, Ryan, wants to get his aspirational amp - and AC 15. I remarked that we are having an 'arms race' in the band! If that happens maybe I'll have to expand in some way, but we all use hearing protection now so I'm not sure we should get any louder.
What little rehearsing we do, we use our smallest amps, turned down, and the drummer brings a minimum setup.

Extreme fires in the neighbouring state to me..in Victoria bushfires are threatening towns as 1 young firefighter was killed when a fire tornado lifted his 10 ton fire truck and flipped it on its roof..2 others in the truck flown to hospital. Our thoughts go out to the Aussie, American and Canadian firefighters in Australia coping to put out these dangerous fires. The pics below are what residents woke up to in a small Victorian town surrounded by the fires..mid morning the normal blue sky was red.

I have been hearing reports this morning on NPR about how terrible the destruction is. How horrifying it must be to be close to the fires. I know there's little I can do, but I certainly wish the best for all those in Australia and hope that this year will be an anomaly in the long run.

Perhaps a fund can be established to help compensate those brave volunteers for their service? It would give those around the world another chance to help.

Here, here, Giffro!
Special shout-out of thanks to Morrighan who invited me to check out the Combo Club from the Mediocre Player thread! I'm so happy to have found even more really welcoming and insightful people! Finding non-argumentative and welcoming members is such a delight in this very polarized era.

Raising a toast to all the great members of this thread!
May the new year be filled with peace and health for all.
