Apparently for relief of joint pain...

View attachment 3649770

One of the Bush dynasty was "allergic" to broccoli, and can't recall which King George anyway. Mad, they're mad and I'm not into MAD unless it's the Alfred E. variety. I'd be all over a Green remedy for joint pain but what I've got here is osteoarthritis of the right subtalar joint. Fusion is the only viable remedy now with bone-on-bone. And, you know, folks wonder out loud why some care about the mass of their rigs. It's spelled osteoarthritis. Happily reporting none in my hands, so here's to a great year with bass

I have been hearing reports this morning on NPR about how terrible the destruction is. How horrifying it must be to be close to the fires. I know there's little I can do, but I certainly wish the best for all those in Australia and hope that this year will be an anomaly in the long run.
Thank You. Unfortunately it is not an anomaly.PM - Severe bushfires linked to global warming

Maybe I should have been more clear: I hope that the size and scope of the wildfires is less in future years.

Not that I think it will be, for reasons pointed out in the article you posted from 2003. To bad what some of us understood to be true then, is still not accepted by some policymakers now.

For some, profit centers are the only thing to understand. Unfortunately until climate change is a profit center it will lack importance.

My ears are still ringing today, unfortunately. This is a new development, and happened because I'm a smartass and didn't wear ear protection for most of the first year of practicing. Learned my lesson. It isn't unbearable ringing, but it is there now and I don't want it to get worse.

After our discussion this morning onTBCC I chatted with the guys via text and we've decided to aim for lowering our volumes at practice. I thought we were scaling to the drummer, until he told me he adjusting to us! We are all pretty relaxed and therefore easy to work with. For the most part I am the BL, since I have the most experience, but we operate on consensus and there are no egos in the band.

Good for you, Doc Intrepid. That's the way to gently confront an issue without making it personal. The quieter everyone else becomes the more your bass lines will stand out even without having to turn up yourself. Let us know how it works, but if it doesn't, threaten them with this:

I have late stage tinnitus..its only been the last 5 years or so that i've noticed it badly enough for it to become a real nuisance..so yes, ear protection is something I would invest in these days although its likely too late for me anyway, but it may still help. My hearing is extremely good otherwise according to hearing tests I did last year but I would love to go back 50 years and have had decent ear plugs protection back then, but still able to clearly hear myself and others in the band..I probably would have reduced my chances of ending up with this continuous annoying ringing in the ears that can keep you awake at night...I keep the TV on when sleeping these days to block out the tinnitus..I found it helps. When you're 25 in loud bands you never think of consequences into the future like hearing issues from volume, blown discs from lifting, or bad marriages from getting together with groupies.

Particularly the last one...

Extreme fires in the neighbouring state to me..in Victoria bushfires are threatening towns as 1 young firefighter was killed when a fire tornado lifted his 10 ton fire truck and flipped it on its roof..2 others in the truck flown to hospital. Our thoughts go out to the Aussie, American and Canadian firefighters in Australia coping to put out these dangerous fires. The pics below are what residents woke up to in a small Victorian town surrounded by the fires..mid morning the normal blue sky was red.

That is incredible. Take care of yourself, Giff, if things get any worse closer to you. What a lousy way of starting the new year.

BTW, happy new year, my friend. Charly too!

To quote Ozzy, "what is this I see before me ...?"

Being on Page 1 of TB Amps and Cabs Thread 95% of the time shows a lot about the owners, users and contributors to this forum, so heading into the New Year, I wish to thank all users and owners of combos for helping to make this forum a great meeting place for other owners and users of all types of Combo Bass Amplification.
A special thank you to G-Dog the Combo Club Wiki "Librarian Of Unlimited Excellence" for his informative Wiki notes and details on the club.
A Very special thank you to our Fearless Leader, iagtrplyr (Mike) who revived this dead Forum, renamed it and expanded upon it with his untiring diligence to make this Club the success story it is today.
There are many others of you to thank for your support in keeping this Club one of the best on TB as a place to come to and relax, have a giggle, show us what gear you own, get advice from similar owners, and have a no hassle time with all the members here. Pat yourselves on the back every Member of the club for making it a wonderful success, as every one of you is part of the Combo Club success story.
It is New Years Eve countdown shortly here in South Australia, well in actual fact about 9 hours away loll..but ahead of most of the world, so to all club members and visitors, have a very safe, healthy and wonderful 2020.
Giff (Club Humourist lolll).

And while we're toasting, to you, Giff, and all those combo-living bass players out there who decided to help save this club from a place in the back pages. Anything musical, particularly bass playing, and I'm in. It's been great fun and I hope we make 99% of our readership content most of the time. The other 1%? Meh.

My goals for 2020: *see the 200th new member, *decrease my GAS; though highly doubtful; *continue building great friendships in this forum like the one I've enjoyed these past months with a couple of nice gents, SR and Giff. Music sharing, swapping of tales, and just a fun time to make the distance around our world a little smaller!

Happy 2020 to the Combo Club and all its members! Speaking of, here's my final membership list for the year. 'Dog, feel free to look it over for any faux pas.

I knew that you had one Ampeg cab. Did Santa deliver some late gifts?

I'll give you the abridged version: That's a pic from almost two years ago. I bought the 15" cab when I picked up the PF-800, then my buddy in Ohio purchased the 210 cab when we decided to keep one out there so all I needed to do was haul the head. When we moved this summer he brought out the 210 since he's not needing it right now. My son bought the head and 115 cab, so now it's the 210 and the VOX head as my only separates here at home, but the 115 is less than 15 blocks away. The kid has already told me he'd love to "borrow" the 210 to hear what the rig sounds like.

Actually, Santa and I are in quiet discussions right now. He's done for the year but did confide in me that there are a few toys still hanging around the shop. I need to pick up some accessories tonight, but am looking at:

1) a Squier Classic Vibe Precision (would be my first one)
2) a Sterling SUB Ray4 (seems nice for the price, but do I need it?)
3) a PJB Double Four that's at a reduced price at zZounds (I know, I don't need it)
4) save up for the unknown in 2020 (Hofner possibly? Ampeg tube amp?)

My vote is for the Hofner, of course, but you may want to play one first. I've seen a lot of positive responses to them, but some folks really don't like them.
