Considering how hard it is to find, expect this is one of those times where the load-in is worse than the load-out.

My question would obviously have to be, yeah, it might be easy to schlep, but does it have any bottom end?

I'm pretty sure you could sell it for what you'd have in it right here on TB, esp. in Thunderbird Club. I'm not any kind of fountain of knowledge re Epi's. My one and(currently)only 'Bird is a Gibby. The Epi 5er I had came with a P/J pup setup. I could never get the sound(s) I wanted out of it and I didn't like the neck contour-not the same as my 67.
From what I've been able to glean on/in TBird Club is that the pups on the Vintage Pro are "better" than the ones on the Classic Pro. If I was gonna seriously look at one, I'd tell the sales person I'm gonna need about 20-30 minutes with this thing into an amp like I have(obviously not the Kasino-I may have the only one extant)whether a 'Peg, Rumble, VOX, whatever, so I could fool with the available tones and see if it was gonna fit my needs. From what I understand, GC has a pretty good return policy although restringing it lefty might kinda shoot that.
One more thing(Columbo). I use mine for all kinds of genres and don't try for the 'typical' klank generally associated with 'Birds. I think almost any bass can sound the way you want it to with judicious use of EQ, both onboard and at the amp.

Thanks, GP. I’m passing. If it was half the price it would be a wacky fun project, but you gave me flashbacks to a few years ago when I blew the same amount of money on a silly whim. I’ll respect Mother Nature this time round.

Mike, I hope that you get a true (Fender) P Bass with flats. I really believe it has THE tone. My Mustang comes close and it has the short scale that is comfortable for me...just trying to stir things up a little .

Seems to me by the powers invested in [everyone's electronically signed combo club agreement, paragraph 47, line 4, amended in the CC TOS] an Elf paired with an Acoustic Image Doubleshot is a combo in the same way a famous fliptop is a combo. The Doubleshot runs 4 ohms and weighs 16 pounds. By all accounts, an Elf likes to run at 4 ohms.

looks like the Doubleshot is made to dock with the Acoustic Image heads. Which, really, ain't such a bad deal, 600 watts .... but it will pair with a head you own with an aftermarket widget. Loses some slickness on that count, IMO.

The TE Elf - 1x10 rig is half the weight of the Phil Jones BG-400 combo. Which is sort-of what I had in mind, and missed with the Cab 27. A Trace cab is pretty trick, and I'm running out of room to put gear

MarkBass MicroMark 8" is not too light compared to other small combos. It's about 6 Kg more than Vox 50 or similar to the ELF that is three time powerful (on the ideas, in the common MB is very loud despite his 50w only accuracy is positioning right near a corner)

Played a bass(guess which one)for awhile yesterday through my little practice amp*. First time I've touched one since our last gig[3/14]. Felt odd, but familiar. Losing a bunch of gigs had me sorta disinterested in playing by myself. However, I don't wanna lose the calluses, so I'll prolly f---** around with it some more today-"I'll play it more today than yesterday"(horn riff). I sure gots nuthin' else to do.

And SR, if Fender made a left-handed Mustang that most likely would be THE bass for me. I love the P-tone but enjoy playing short-scale basses too. Unfortunately, they don't or I at least can't find one. I have my eye on a Player Precision in tidepool, but want to know more about their necks before deciding. I've been reading more on the bass forum to see if it's a simple transition from the Jazz to the P or not. My journey continues...

M, I support you, but there are those who have poo-poo'd the idea of including separates in the club and I can understand their point. I made a rash decision last year adding the B-15, but because of it being an icon I felt like it was defendable. What if we couldn't see the Elf as in, hidden from view? Would the Doubleshot allow you to place the head somewhere behind it, perhaps? If so, then a combo it would definitely be. Thoughts, Combo Club?

Feel you're pain, GP. Now you know what's it's like when after dozens of days go by without musical contact with another human, ya begin to lose interest in playing. This recording thing I've started has given me renewed interest, but now it's finding the time.

BTW, if you're wondering what the heck I'm doing on here at midday, I'm between Zoom meetings. I spent 35 minutes with a little over half my class this morning in a video conference. They were wonderful to see for the first 20 min, but the last 15 I was telling boys to stop interrupting, asking one of the girls to please put her dog down, and requesting they speak up because we couldn't hear them. Ahh...just like the old days of early March!

Hmmm, I thought like you, iago, until I googled it. They do exist! But, if they were only made in the '60s & '70s, then they may cost quite the pretty penny.
