decided give my Jazz a new environment in which to hopefully sound more appealing. If not, the LaBellas are going.

Happy Easter! Couldn't help notice you got LaBellas on your Jazz - 760s or LTFs? Reason I ask is I did try the 760s on a couple of Jazzes and never really liked it. Now, on the P bass - match made in heaven. Those strings are just made for the Precision.
Wanting the feel of flats, but with more presence and bit brighter for the Jazz, I tried a few and settled on EB Cobalt Flats for the Jazz. Closest thing to roundwound sound, with no zing and just more comfortable IMHO.

Anywho, for what it's worth, if you decide to try something else on your Jazz - give the cobalt flats a try! I've been extremely happy with them.

Now back to my chocolate bunny!

Happy Easter, GP! Oh, don’t you know it, my friend. Countries cease to exist due to some of my hair brained ideas. Case in point: there’s one less Acoustic combo bass amp in our world because of said bright ideas.

This one might work though! All I can say it includes a P-bass, a Rumble 200, a 12” deli sandwich, and a can of brown shoe polish. I’ll be back...!

Happy Easter! Couldn't help notice you got LaBellas on your Jazz - 760s or LTFs? Reason I ask is I did try the 760s on a couple of Jazzes and never really liked it. Now, on the P bass - match made in heaven. Those strings are just made for the Precision.

You are the guru of common sense ‘round these here parts of late so I am naming you our club’s Secretary of Common Sense Everything Bass, or CSEB. Your office will be on the 34th floor (regular scale length) and you’ll receive somewhere in the neighborhood of $250,000 a year as compensation for your good brain.

Set up an appointment with ‘Dog’s secretary, Natasha, and she’ll walk you through the paperwork and get you a key to the washroom.

The reason I commend you is you’re right on target with yer thoughts. They are 760s and are very dark without any depth. The fundamental seems there but there’s nothing else to hang me hat on.

Admittedly, the change in room did improve the tone somewhat. The Jazzer is running straight into the Ampeg and that’s been the best-sounding combination. I’be adjusted it to sound more P-ish with bridge PU off, tone way down, and neck PU about dimed.

It’s serviceable, but I agree, I need something a little brighter. I’ve always used Chromes or Fender 9050s, but the Cobalts sound intriguing. Thanks!

Welcome opt57! Sheesh, I haven’t seen ChefKen’s name on a post for like five years now. That tells me you started with the club’s first post and read through each one of our bits of prose until reaching the 8,949th entry of your own.

Well you more than satisfied the requirements and I will be happy to issue you a brand new number that you can proudly add to your sig, and I will do that after I retrieve one last hidden Easter egg #2 hid from me this morning.

Rumor has it that inside there’s a copy of Geddy Lee’s Big Bass Book, but I can’t find the darned thing. Those plastic eggs are so tiny it could be just about anywhere. I must keep looking...

My bass rack has changed slightly in the last couple days, so these are the ones I'm plunking on today:
Active fretless and passive fretted. The Warwick $$ has more output than any other passive bass I've tried by a wide margin. I call it Red, but sometimes it's known as, "the Beast." The Carvin fretless (Woody) just sings so nicely with the ground wound strings. This was the bass I learned "Come Together" on, and I still get a bit giddy playing it on there. Plus that Levy's strap is like butter. But, you know, less greasy.

For flats, lately I'm hearing the siren call of the TI flats... There's even a TB thread about them...
I finally get the hype with TI strings
But of course, opinions vary.

To clarify-some-the chain is 67 THUNDERBIRD>EHX Micro POG pedal dry out>Rumble 200c>R112 cab+200c efx send>R100c efx return and EHX Micro POG(octave up)efx out>Rumble 40. Pretty awesome sound @ 1/2 volume. Possible 300W/40W.

With that comes an incredibly enchanting (and possibly dangerous) secret decoder membership ring (or does he get the decoder after a year's membership?) and the great feeling you're respected for being a musician who truly understands the way of the combo.
