Well, for me, Smoke on the Water has the coolest groove. Frozen is not my jam, so pass. Knockin is a song my old band (OK, one of my old bands) used to cover, so I have a soft spot in my heart for that one. And I don't really remember the theme from Goldeneye, so I would not vote for that without refreshing my memory of it.
I'm guessing you chose Love Gun from KISS just to really confuse things!
What did I win?
To my dear crew, thank you for your thoughts. You all, for the mist part thought like the rockers you are, but alas, this is a concert orchestra and that means, IMHO, even the nasties will be homogenized for all ages. With that, I can tell you the current totals:
1) Goldeneye - 88 votes (37%)
2) Let it Go - 80 votes (34%)
3) Knockin’ - 46 votes (19%)
4) Smoke - 24 votes (10%)
So as you can see, it’s gonna be a real challenge to talk them into any Black Sabbath. I agree with 007 ‘Dog, Goldeneye is okay, but doesn’t have much in the way of pizzazz. Knockin’ is the same too. Kinda one-dimensional, though soulful. Smoke on the Water is fine, but a group of his did it a couple of months ago and I don’t why anyone would wanna do it again.
That leaves Frozen...my pick. At first I was gently persuaded to pick it, but after listening to the Disney soundtrack it’s really not too bad. More dynamic than the others, though I think I’ll be sitting out for half of it!
Currently, there’s 400 in the orchestra so who knows, maybe SotW will bring it home. I think it was my first song learned on guitar, if I recall.
Wrapping it up, Klaus Meine, singer of the Scorpions, did a quick YouTube blurb
congratulating the group on the record breaker. It was cool, it was classy, and it was in German. The scary thing is I’m beginning to understand it better.
