It’s funny, my son is 100% left-handed but when learning bass in the 4th grade orchestra he had no choice but to learn right. When he add e-bass, I ordered him a lefty and after two days he tells me he wants a right-handed bass. We never discussed orientation again.

I am naturally right handed and was just mimicking Paul. But did it so long it felt funny going righty. But since those were just 1/4” plywood Guitars with fishing line strings, and never really tuned, etc, it took longer to understand real chord fingering than learning to use my left hand for it....

Regarding your pedal board, I noticed you are using rigid connectors between each pedal. This seems like it may cause some problems down the road. But to make sure, I checked in with this guy:

Good day folks! Been a while since I've posted, lurked a bit though. Busy back to working and playing and getting in lots of jam time. So much so, I've been leaving the Rumble 500 at the drummers house (2 flights of stairs down to the basement) I know, it's only 36 lbs, but since back to playing regularly just more convenient. I've got a vox headphone amp to practice with, but this little guy is giving me major gas...

Roland Micro Cube Bass RX 4x4" 5-watt Portable Bass Combo Amp

Just looks like tons of fun. Small, light and very portable (battery operated) - great for the back porch or wherever. Lot's of effects onboard, cosm amp modeling and a pretty cool rhythm section. Perfect for practice!

I have a question for you more technically inclined than I (which is pretty much everyone ). The only output on the Roland is a rec out/headphones 1/4 inch plug jack. Just for s and g's, is it possible to run the Roland through my Rumble 500c? Not a deal breaker if it won't, just curious. And don't want to just go trying to hook it up without knowing if it will damage anything.

Wow! That's one of those once-cheesy, now super-cool, SilverTone amp-in-a-guitar-case amps! Not a bass amp, that is, I don't know that they made a bass version, but a combo nonetheless!

Outfitter, hello. I just happened to be grabbing a midnight snack (shh...keep a lid on it) and came upon your attempted posts. The one I’m replying to came through but I’m having a devil of a time trying to figure out where the combo is!

I see a speaker and what looks like an amp chassis, but I’m lost after that. Let’s wait til morning when my crack staff of experts can help me understand what I’m looking at. As for the rest of your pics, they didn’t come through, ay Kraft in my phone, I’ll try my laptop tomorrow.

If you’re having trouble uploading pics, there are numerous sites you can use as a go-between in order to post them. What I go is use my Google Drive and post the link to “images” above. Always works. Make sure they’re JPEGs.

About 30. I've had it for maybe 5 years +/-. The scratches are mostly from getting banged up by the guitar stand in the duffel bag. BTW, the micro POG is great for adding an octave down for when I don't wanna take the 5er along for one song(not that I'd have room for a second bass["What"]or time to switch), or an octave up for a 'guitar playing the same line' effect during guitar solos when we go out as a trio 'stead of our usual 4 pieces. It fills up the sound.

b, very nice hearing from ya, I love the lurkers too. My man, you’re experiencing what I go through every so many months when I fall upon one of these Cubes and think, “Wouldn’t it be awesome to have one again?” Yes, I said again because I’ve chased the rabbit down that hole in earlier years and it didn’t last too long.

On paper, the Roland is a fantastic idea and I wish more companies would enter this market, but instead of four wimpy speakers which don’t play with any authority, IMHO, put in an eight or something that gives you the sense of bass notes.

That’s not my only complaint and again, this is my opinion. I owned umpteen Rolands over the last two decades and other than the Blues Cube Combo, the gray battery-looking models all sound inorganic...fake to me. I know, Mr. Picky, but Roland makes you pay top dollar for their amps and they sound like a robot birthed them!

On the Bass Cube I’d play a model for two minutes, think “meh” and click to the next one only to repeat again. Yep, there’s loads of features and it’s built like a brick poop house, for three bills new it’s a sonic disappointment. And don’t plan on jamming even with an acoustic guitar; dude will wipe you out with one A chord.

I totally get why you want it and everyone loves portable amps for back porch noodling, but I advise you as your combo cohort to, “Steer clear, Big Tuna, head to open waters.” Killed by Death, if I remember, likes to use his tiny Vox NuTube combo on the porch, but is still has to plug in. Trust me, it’s worth it!

Now if you buy it, we’ll love and respect you no less. Maybe there’s been an update or two since I had mine. Try playing through one if that’s possible at this time. If portability is crucial, then look at the Pignose 30-watt bass amp before buying. More power, bigger speaker, and cheaper if I’m now mistaken.

Okay, I’ve babbled on too long. Anyone else wanna chime in and safe this man some money? RR saved my pedal board this morning, I’m just paying it forward.

Edit: sorry, b, I forgot your hookup question. Yes, you can run from the Cube’s headphone out jack into the Rimble’s input jack. It would be a lot louder, no doubt. But how’s this for an idea? Instead of spending all that cash on a Cube, buy instead the baby Rumble modeling amp? You’ll get loads of models of amps and effects and it’ll sound a heck of a lot better. AND you’ll save money doing do because I’ve seen some around two hundred buckaroos. Go check it out.

He’s right, RR, schmackeroons are about as easy to get as talking Morrighan into carrying g an old Peavey TNT combo up three flights of stairs while wearing skates!

But hey, those pet swatches are nothing to sneeze about. Thank goodness we didn’t throw those darn things out when the club was being remodeled...in 1982!

Eh, still to computerized-sounding to my ears, but that’s the idea. I think Laney has a portable amp they supposed to sound good, but I don’t remember how much. My problem with Roland, and there are zillions who love the Cubes, is that ear fatigue sets in after about 15 minutes no matter what the settings. Maybe b won’t have that problem, but I sure did and I wanted to love it!
