The Combo Club

Here I am again looking to be closing down the club for the night. I need to hire a night watchman.

Here are the latest photos as I added my new "colorful" cables to the board. The Fenders I also bought are much nicer, but if these work decently they're a steal. And if you notice, the elephant in the room (with the black Fender cover on) is the 115, looking all smart and beautiful. Slipped the casters on and away we go. For some reason, it seems smaller than when I owned one last. Lighter than a Kleenex too. I have a slight mod to do to it this week and she'll be ready to go. I think the Stage 800 may barely fit on top, but it's gonna be close. I see it more as the BT's mate. I'm gonna run it tomorrow with the Stage and am looking forward to it too!

As I depart, no G'dog response tonight? Hmm...the man is holding his proverbial cards close to his collar. Okay, we'll play it your way, Pup. Let us know when you're My Little Pony tea party set comes in. Unless it's a new ???

Bassists are like toilet paper. It doesn't stand out when it's there, and nobody talks about it, but when we're out of it, it's a national drama.
I kid about it, but in our group[1 or 2 guitars, drums, me], both guitarists and I sing lead. Because of space constraints, we usually set up in a line across with Tom(drums) slightly back of the the other 2-or 3.

So then, GP, are you saying you're more Charmin or White Cloud? I think of myself as a spittin' image of Cottonelle, but as you know, I'm not the most modest person in the world.

1219181018-00.jpg Never thought of it like that. You've seen some of our vids, but watch "driftwoods of treasure coast-live" 1-8. You'll see how cramped we are. I don't really care if I'm kinda out front or in the background, but, since we don't use monitors, I like to be able to hear the balance.

I respect your opinion. I'm more of the guy in the back because I like to watch everything going on around me. I don't sing usually though so it's easier to take the rear. It's the one time I like to be in the supporting (but important) cast and not have to be right out front.

I just finished playing for a bit. Nothing like getting back into a groove. It's so much easier to go to that next song after feeling good about the last one. I hate it when I know my rhythm is off from not playing for a while. This summer retirement-thing isn't half bad, ya know?

Iss beink no need for human night watchman, Your Excellency. Don't you are rememberink all-new state-of-art security/surveillance system you commissioned last year? Comprehensive cameras with facial recognition, motion & infrared sensors, retinal scaners, multiple-laser trip points, locks tuned to Communicator badges for touchless access/egress with door actuators, multiple emergency firewall deployment, etc., etc. Heheheh, I am guessink it is beink so unobtrusive Fearless Leader has forgot it!

Oh, don't worry about the Rumble Stage 800 (footprint 19"x14") fitting atop the Rumble 115 cab (footprint 23"x14.5"), Mikie. You'll have no problem there. The only problem you may have is anchoring lightweight objects in front of the stack which may become dangerous projectiles!

Hmm, yes, I try not to tip my hand too soon. But, I usually try to keep my cards close to the vest as my collar may be encumbered by my facemask these days, if not my ZZ Top starter kit beard being cultivated since lockdown began. It accompanies my even-longer-than-usual hair, since the barbershops closed. Yet another reason Mrs. Dog wants this Mess Goin' 'Round to end!

Anyone else growing any covid-vigil hairs?

Thanks for the reminder about what seems like a massive security system installed in our house. Yes, I remember the debate last year, “Should we protect The massive Peavey ‘70s Combo exhibit in the South Wing?” I know I was ready to say “Kaput!” But that dude from Florida got his undies all in a wad so we did it.

Uhh...do I have the code for it? Can’t seem to find my secret book entitle, SECRET CODES FOR THE CC. Does anyone know where it might be. Dang memory.

We’ll go ahead, Mr. Man, and hold onto your little secret. Can you at least tell us when the big surprise will be unveiled? We may wanna order a cake. Forget it, the phone # for the bakery is in the CODE BOOK! :banghead:

Well, I don’t know what anyone else thinks, because I seem to be the one who is curious, but I’m gonna guess it’s a larger combo that you’re gonna use at church. While I’m sure the Studio40 is fine, a little more lower-frequency authority never hurt anyone. Might it even be the Stage 800? Then you could keep the 40 home for practice and leave the Stage at church. Mmm...vedy intaestink!

If that is your plan, then let me tell you how much you’re gonna life it. Though I usually complain I can’t get a good sound out of mine in a small room, last night/this morning I had tones from Heaven. My Acoustic and TV models, in particular, left me with a smile on my face similar to Soul Reflection finding a 60s soul group he hadn’t heard of before! I’m almost scared to add the 15 so as not to anger the Rumble gods or something, but after a certain little tweak sometime today I’ll be ready to present her properly.

Have a nice day, all. Stop in if you find a moment and say hi. I’m headed to the chiropractor for an adjustment and to put a hex on the arthritic thumb. :hyper:

Where is that ring? I know I had it during the Christmas holidays. I’ll find it.

So it seems we both have a secret to share, though I’m sure mine is not nearly as exciting as yours. Since I give hints I’ll just say it’s more a cosmetic update.

Your turn.

[Boris] Iss not beink a rink, but a badge, Your Excellency. I am knowink you hate wearink decorative jewlery, so check the pockets of all your pants, shirts, jackets, etc. Or askink Clubhouse computer where iss it. If you can even get into Clubhouse without it! If not, I am gettink you in as my guest. Perhaps you should consider puttink it on a nice chain necklace that may be easier to keep up with and can dangle under your tunic, shirt, jacket etc.? [/Boris]

I'm sorry. Maybe by trying to not make a big deal out it, I'm actually making a big deal out of it! Like when my very elderly, now dearly departed, mother said, "I don't want to be a bother to my children" and then refused to move in with any of us or go to a nursing home and thus became a big bother to us by insisting on remaining in her own home!

Ok, I'll play along. My new acquisition is not a combo. But it is combo-related. And it could possibly arrive tomorrow, but my money's on Thursday. I hope this helps.
.

I'm not sure but what is causing that "Delay"?

Our very small town is halfway between the two nearest UPS Centers in bigger cities and it's apparently quite inconvenient to come this far unless they have other deliveries here. I often get notices of deliveries that don't really appear until the next day. Some services, such as plumbers, are likewise reluctant to make the drive, unless it sounds like a big enough job. It's also a 45 minute drive to a Wal-Mart in either city. So, it can be both a blessing and a curse to live hear.

I have a spare Combo Club badge I am willing to share.

I can sell it, but it will cost one book of S&H Greenstamps.

I refuse to believe it’s a badge because I’ve been calling it a ring since the ring’s inception! Where the heck do you people think the song, “Ring around the Rumble” is taken from? Argh! :bored:

Enjoyed the Mom tale and know exactly what you’re talking about. I’m currently trying reverse psychology with, “Ya know, you’re right. I’m done trying to convince you it’s time to begin thinking of moving. You can hang in here as long as you want to!”

Will it work? No, she’s Italian. Nothing works, but at least I get to hear myself use a different vocabulary every now and then!

‘Dog, you did get Swink’s underlying guess, right? I wanted to make sure you did because a pedal is a terrible thing to waste.

A new bass, perhaps? I really think that’s it and I’m willing to bet the club’s one million schmackeroons on it! I’m gonna say a Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jazz Bass? How did I do?

I’m off to perform the scheduled cosmetic surgery. Pictures will be provided afterwards. Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard... :nailbiting:

Badge......Ring.....
Now you are splitting hairs on the description. ;)

I am now offering to throw in the pin and the glue....along with the ring....er, I mean badge for no extra charge.

You can make your own badge.

Oh, I like that glue. It’s good stuff.

PT, you are a mediator, a man of compromise. Plus the fact you’re pretty tight with a buck s evidenced by the images. I have an idea...

After meeting with me, I have decided to name Polish Thunder, a lefty in heart and mind (not to mention the hand) as our club’s newest treasurer. We desperately need someone to watch the purse strings (like all of a sudden G’Dog has a boatload of bucks to go spending around various musical establishments) and I think you’re the man just did the job. Name your price and it shall be granted, by you, our new treasurer.

Let us know if you accept my more-than-kind offer!
