The Combo Club

Our very small town is halfway between the two nearest UPS Centers in bigger cities and it's apparently quite inconvenient to come this far unless they have other deliveries here. I often get notices of deliveries that don't really appear until the next day. Some services, such as plumbers, are likewise reluctant to make the drive, unless it sounds like a big enough drive. It's also a 45 minute drive to a Wal-Mart in either city. So, it can be both a blessing and a curse to live hear.
.
If I analyze this subliminal message.... It's a small pedal-board with a big volume-knob, a delay and a lot of drive....

I accept.

I am not sure what the starting salary is, but you do know I happen to like them there S&H Greenstamps...:)

I accept your acceptance. Ladies and gents, welcome our new club treasurer, Polish Thunder!

G’Dog what’s the exchange rate for a Schmackeroon to a book of Greenstamps? I’m thinking, one to a gazillion? He’ll figure it out for us.

No doubt, the Combo Club has definitely strengthened its position in the world today.

Your first task, Mr. Treasurer, is to find out what G’Dog is up to. Make sure funding is not being syphoned off for fox trot dancing lessons, those little cakes he likes to snack on, or anything from QVC!

Oh yeah, welcome aboard!

Thanks for the reminder about what seems like a massive security system installed in our house. Yes, I remember the debate last year, “Should we protect The massive Peavey ‘70s Combo exhibit in the South Wing?” I know I was ready to say “Kaput!” But that dude from Florida got his undies all in a wad so we did it.

Uhh...do I have the code for it? Can’t seem to find my secret book entitle, SECRET CODES FOR THE CC. Does anyone know where it might be. Dang memory.

We’ll go ahead, Mr. Man, and hold onto your little secret. Can you at least tell us when the big surprise will be unveiled? We may wanna order a cake. Forget it, the phone # for the bakery is in the CODE BOOK! :banghead:

Well, I don’t know what anyone else thinks, because I seem to be the one who is curious, but I’m gonna guess it’s a larger combo that you’re gonna use at church. While I’m sure the Studio40 is fine, a little more lower-frequency authority never hurt anyone. Might it even be the Stage 800? Then you could keep the 40 home for practice and leave the Stage at church. Mmm...vedy intaestink!

If that is your plan, then let me tell you how much you’re gonna life it. Though I usually complain I can’t get a good sound out of mine in a small room, last night/this morning I had tones from Heaven. My Acoustic and TV models, in particular, left me with a smile on my face similar to Soul Reflection finding a 60s soul group he hadn’t heard of before! I’m almost scared to add the 15 so as not to anger the Rumble gods or something, but after a certain little tweak sometime today I’ll be ready to present her properly.

Have a nice day, all. Stop in if you find a moment and say hi. I’m headed to the chiropractor for an adjustment and to put a hex on the arthritic thumb. :hyper:
No worries, I remember the code for getting past the Club security systems. Ready? OK, 8-67-5-30-9.
Now you're all set!

Hair's grown nicely in our quarantine, but the pint has proved more problematical. :bored: Firing up one combo or another today (as I do every day) while I think about that pint. It's chords on a diatonic scale on this week's menu :dead:
"pint"?
Edit: It's the hair tie-in that has confused me. Burgers and pints, pizza and pints, all make sense. But haircuts and pints? I'm lost.

Oh, it's easy, just try to make a jingle out of it. ;)

Great idea. Here's my take. Come up with a phrase like, "Oh, hail our Fearless Leader!" and slap a pitch (do, re, mi, etc) above each word. So do is a 1, re is a 2, blah blah blah. I'm thinking maybe you could come up with a 100-number security code. That outta be enough to make a up a great song about combos.

Go for it, RR!

PS: cosmetic surgery is complete and the patient is resting. Pictures coming soon. I think there will be pleasure displayed.

Well, I liked Roddy's jumped conclusion that I bought GC gift cards for everyone! Wish I could. Hmmm, do they sell 2 cent gift cards? I'll get back to you on that. By all means do hold your breath in anticipation.

I also like swink's subliminal analysis concluding a small pedalboard and couple pedals. But no, the sum of my gift cards didn't total near that much moola. And a Philco all-tube AM radio? Fuhgeddaboudit! My kids don't care for me that much! These were more the mandatory, dutiful (read "nominal") birthday & Father's Day gifts.

Hey! I wish it was a Squier '70s Classic Vibe Jazz! I'd be bragging from the mountaintops and giving hourly updates of the shipping progress! But, alas . . . .

And Roddy thinks he's got the Master Code? Ha! :roflmao: He must still have some residual gamma ray poisoning from his code green incident. That was an old code, now useless, from his old faulty nuclear badge. The new quantum field badges are much more complex, like the date & exact time in sidereal time, times the duration in nanoseconds of when Hendrix (not beni, but his cousin) played Monterey, all divided by the logarithmic square of the speed of light relative to a specific reference point in space (which is of course classified) to the one millionth significant digit. There ya go, Roddy. Get back to me with that number! Is by tomorrow enough time?

YAY! Polish Thunder for Treasurer!! (Didn't I tell you, Roly Poly, that we could finesse him into it? You played it perfectly!) Good choice, Fearless Leader! Unfortunately, the value of The Club's schmackeroon account went negative! However, with Polish Thunder's help, we were able to first convert it all to, . . . . wait for it, . . . . you guessed it, ... S&H Green Stamps at a local garbag... uh, ... that is, Garage Sale! So, everybody's happy! Well, except the Garage Sale. But, they might have a comeback after the pandemic.

How can you say NO to Combos?

Hey! Am I the only one who knows how to use The Club motto?

I'll respond backward.

1) yes.

2) Never said I wasn't easy. Plus, I like PT!

3) RR's a cool dude too. We need to find him a position in the club, 'Dog. Come up with something creatively kooky to fit his unique personality.

4) If I win the IA lottery soon I'm buying you a Jazzer because it'll be worth the price just to get hourly shipping updates!

5) Thanks for :poop: on my tube radio guess. wow, don't be wrong around The Dog or you'll be scarred for life...

6) It wouldn't surprise me one bit if on a cloudy Monday in November 2028 I receive a letter and in the envelope are two shiny pennies; good for any GC purchase sometime after the Apocolypse. G'Dog, no wonder you are loved so much in this club...except for GP. He can't stand you, but you didn't hear it from me.

Okay, take a seat, everyone. I am ready to present to you my latest experiment results. No, I did not make any Ooblick, so keep your yaps quiet. Here's a 30-second summary of why I'm unveiling my art project.

I purchased a Rumble 115 cabinet, knowing the 210 cab would size up perfectly and look like a twin, but decided that I wanted the 15 because I love 'em and thought it'd work perfectly with the Orange Terror Bass amp. That being said, I still would like to use it with the Stage 800, but not with the grill looking the way it did. It's like wearing white loafers with black pants. Sorry, GOFs. Is my 30-seconds over yet? Without any further adieu...

I quite pleased how it turned out, but the best question came from #2 this afternoon when she came into my room and asked, "Is this gonna be loud?" :help:

Edit: oh yeah, I stuck the PJB in there for scale.

My OCD is going crazy! I thought the Stage 800 and Rumble 115 Cab would match up better. My Rumble 200 on it's side, sitting on the Rumble 115 is passable. Got to check out the measurements!

Looks don't really matter (you know the old expression, :bag:), can't wait to hear how they sound;).

May I be bold enough to suggest that my bass playing compadre, RodRy, who also happens to reside in the the part-time frozen tundra I like to call Michigan, be given the position of Assistant to the Regional Manager. If he performs well as the ATTRM during his probationary period, then he could be promoted to Assisted Regional Manager.

As OCD as I am, SR, I’m not bothered one bit, and that’s weird for me. I see it in my mind as a dark castle with a base and tower. All I need now are bats flying around.

The real question is when I’ll see a use for this rig? Probably not soon. My next photos will be the Terror Bass atop the 115. I think that setup will see more time outside the bunker. Either that or the Stage 800 alone, as I’ve done before.

Im gonna use this current setup for the recording I need to make by Thursday and then switch over to the Orange for July’s song. I’ll send ya something.
