That Traynor YGM-4 is really appealing! I had a Traynor YBA-1A head for four decades before selling it. It weighed a ton-plus (50-some lbs) but it sounded GREAT with both bass and guitar. IIRC it was called the poor man’s Marshall. I miss it but have no regret about selling it because I’ll never again play anything where I’d make good use of it. Somebody around Portland, OR is doing it justice, I’m sure. Even though I don’t currently have one, I remain a devoted fan of Traynor amps.

Except for the Trace Elliott Elf feeding the speakers of my deceased, 13-y-o Markbass Minimark, my amp collection is all combos now.​

I have a '68 YBA1-A as well. There it is hiding in the back lol

Stateside, thanks for putting up the disclosure, it saved your reputation. And let that be a lesson to all members: no pics of separates unless you are warning us first. Last time I did that without letting everyone know people went blind.

I hope you scored big on that sale because that head seemed to be in perfect condition for nearly a half-century old. I wishbone looked that good!

I believe you when you say you’d still probably have the Traynor. I think it’s a really cool amp.

Did you see bhendrix’s Fender Mustang tonight? It’s over in the Rumbler Club. He has it next to his new Studio 40. It’s a beautiful bass. I was just looking them up and the prices seem reasonable for the MIM.

Now that I have all this amp stuff done, it’s time to look for another bass. I’m scouring the earth for a lefty short scale first and then go from there. I found a Gibby EB-0 for fifteen hundred that looked beautiful, but I haven’t set my price range yet.

Since were probably the only two here, I wanted to show this portable stage set up for a country group in our downtown tonight. We were stopped at a crosswalk right at the stage and I had my wife take a picture. It looks bigger then it really was. Do you think you’ve still played smaller stages then this?

I wish I could give you dimensions, but the tent it was under wasn’t anything gigantic. I was thinking like a quartet with drums, bass, guitars. I’d be interested in your thoughts.

You see the tan tent in the background? We've had one just like that set up for the 4 of us. No, we don't fit. 2 Guitarists, amps, mic stands, PA(1/2), drum set-w/ drummer, me, bass amp, mic stand, other PA column.
We'd just about kill for sumpin' like that porta-stage.
ETA: 3 combo amps. I've tried to talk them into going direct to the PA.

By European standards, this is a medium-size fairground stage. If you don't count the egos, and don't take social distances into account, you can go with 6 on it.
I've known places where the guitarist (lefty) and I crossed swords while playing.

I always liked stage left so my only real risk on a small stage was tipping the vocal column. I didn’t care if anyone saw my tuning keys.

Some bandmates thought I was wierd for taking care of my gear as I did. I am weird, but that’s not why. Sadly, though, Traynor still today isn’t appreciated for being as good as it is, so I didn’t make a killing on selling it. One selling point was ZERO modifications in all those years. I hope in my next life I can find it and buy it back so I can do it all over again.

I had a feeling you were gonna say that! After looking at the image again last night, all bleary-eyed, I realized it was a little larger than first thought. I do like the idea about being off the ground.

I saw a video of the group last night and thought there were at least four people playing with pretty good PA support too.

Decent crowd out there last night. They look to be social distancing, are food, drank liquid refreshments, and seemed to have a good time. GP, you be careful down there if you’re playing in the upcoming days. Seems like cases are in the rise again there.

I hear ya, but I’m putting the blame on those who thought they could go right back to normal so soon. Our governor basically lifted all restrictions a couple of weeks ago, the kids at the U of I decided it was time to jam the bars and sweat all over each other, and now cases have blown up in Iowa City. Then it’s the establishment’s musicians who take it on the chin by losing a future gig.

That’s too bad, GP. Could be a good weekend to learn a new music style. How about Reggae? I just finished with Hip-hop and I’m still alive...physically.

Our crowd's demographic is smarter. They wear masks and distance, but the places we play will be affected. FL just (11:30 EST) stopped sales of alcohol for on-site consumption effective immediately. Live music is done TFN. I'm gonna guess maybe September-maybe. Oh, well, more support for my theory of existence:LSTYD.

Newest combo to the collection. '76 Traynor YGM-4. Two EL84s, four 12AX7s and four eight inch speakers. Bought it for my guitar but it sounds killer with my bass as well.
