And, IIRC, @Jeremy Jones, you have the Studio 40 on top of the regular 40, even though the grills look otherwise?! You switched the grills! Mmmm, sneaky.

Do you use the instrument cable from (one of the two) FXSend on the Studio to the FXReturn of the regular 40? Or something more fancy?

You are correct sir. I did switch those as I like that look better and I use that amp by itself more. I run an instrument cable from the FX send of the Studio 40 to the guitar input of the V3 40. Then i usually eq the v3 at 12:00 with gain at about 11:00 and volume at about 12:00 or less depending on the room. The Studio 40 I leave the eq set for whatever present I am using and volume is 12:00. I just played an outdoor gig where we ran to the FOH out of the xlr of the V3 40 and actually had to turn the bass EQ down on the V3. Otherwise, the stage mix was perfect and from what I heard the FOH sounded really good to.

It's a running gag over on Thunderbird Club. I read somewhere that flip flops are the Southern "glass slipper". It certainly looks that way at WalMart. Of course you folks get snow which kinda shoots that down.

Well GP..it took me a few minutes to realise what you guys were talking about re: flip flops..loll here in Australia we call them thongs..little rubber slip-ons with the thong bit that goes between ya big toe and second toe..some are slip-on types that fasten with velcro strapping over the top of the foot instead..but still called thongs here...now I know you guys in the US and from what my UK wife tells me..thongs over there in the US and UK are what we call G-Strings..loll glad ya havent got ya G-String down there by ya Kustom for comparison GP loll..but to me they are thongs lol Now if ya think i'm havin' ya on...link below.

Good evening Combo Club! No one has been on since GP's posting last Thursday? Let's see if we can entice some of you to chime in with a thought or two in what I call, "What do I spend my hard-earned money on next?" I like to have project ideas in my head even if there's nothing going on at the minute. Maybe it's a new instrument or select piece of equipment, but I feel better knowing there's something interesting on the horizon, especially at this time of the year when before you know it I'll be knee-deep in fourth and fifth graders. It keeps me sane and gives my wife thoughts for the holidays. So how about you? Anything you're hankering for in the musical world besides Oasis getting back together for an O2 concert? Here's mine:

1) tube bass amp (thinking Ampeg PF-20T for the boudoir); 2) Fender Jazz American Pro (the retirement bass, but can I actually wait another four years? Doubtful), and 3) basic but decent-quality computer recording gear (so I can finally hear myself after, not just during the song). That's it. Oh yeah, peace, love, and understanding for the entire world.

Okay, CC members, who's up next? Extra points if you explain why you want it as well. Let's light up the board!

I'm 67 now and have all the gear I want or need anyway as other guys have said, and I am real happy with the lightweight Fender Rumble stuff I own, so 7 Basses and 3 Amp rigs is enough now to cope with any gig that comes along.
To answer a previous question by Mike I do run my Rumble 500 Combo and cab with horn tweeters on at home for practise but both turned off at gigs because as I think GP said I dont want any distortion added to my sound and I would say that the tweeters driven hard may do just that or possibly even blow with the extra volume..either way I havent tried it and really dont intend to try..but for home use practising quietly I like them on..there is one in the Combo and one in the Rumble 115 cab too, so for gigs I have to turn them both off.
The other question about weight regarding amps...
To quote.."Are you willing to sacrifice tone for weight? At this point in your life, are you willing to trade your sound (even a little) to be able to actually haul the amp around?"
Doesnt really apply in my situation really because I still own my heavy Peavey rig and if I need that extra tone of the Peavey then I dont mind lugging it around for the gigs that would require it. Of course I would naturally love to use my lightweight Rumble with its great tone anyway but if circumstances required me to drag the Peavey out for a large gig then I would.
I am pretty sure bang for buck the Fender Rumbles own that contest..at least for the moment.

I agree- if the gig required it, I'd schlep the Kasino-with help. But I think I could use the Rumble 200C into FOH and save my back for other activities-like a nap.

Sounds good to me Mike..anytime a nap sounds good to me and if i need one and cant drop off..a quick pint of Guinness usually helps loll

Thank you for chiming in JJ, and I apologize for forgetting it was you. I seriously think you and others doing this are onto something. For those who choose separates over combos, think of it like this. It's separate combos! Use multiple numbers when playing larger gigs or use one for the smaller venues. It's the best of both worlds!

Giff, what you don't know is Jeremy and I are the only two bass players in the entire state! We do get our share of gigs though, don't we, JJ? We have to stay active though to fend off the guitarists who outnumber us two-fold...Iowa is a teeny slice of Heaven with a lot of corn, beans, and hogs!

Thanks for sharing your setup. There are those of us who are very interested in trying something like this out, but haven't yet, and if they're like me, they are trying to see the procedure in their minds. It makes good sense.

Seriously, we here in the states used to call them thongs back in the 70s, but when the ladies began wearing floss as an undergarment, the term thong took on a whole new meaning. I stopped using that word the day I was laughed out of the room by a bunch of 20-somethings. Where was the Urban dictionary in 1985?

It is explained pretty thoroughly on Rumble Club Wiki, but the short version is"effects out" of one("master") Rumble into "effects in" of the second("slave"). It bypasses the pre amp section of the second Rumble. All tone/volume is controlled by the master.

Good evening CC members! Back to school today and from here on out until...62. Have to tell you about my last summer day yesterday where my nephew came up to jam with his uncle. He's a pretty decent guitarist until you call out an Ab and then he's lost, but I digress. His love is metal, both vintage and modern, and we delved into all realms for about three hours and it was thoroughly enjoyable. We did Black Sabbath and Judas Priest for me and Ghost and some group named with numbers for him. The best part was our meeting in the middle and rocking to AC/DC, Motley Crue, and Megadeth. Told ya it was an eclectic afternoon. What gave the two of us the most satisfaction though was how much fun we had making music together, plain and simple. I always say it's like going to church. Good times spent sharing with others is one of the best reasons to indulge in this passion, no doubt.

Last thing before drifting off into La La Land. I am asking for a combo intervention from anyone who's experienced with such things and wants to help me save some $. I'm looking at the Guitar Center site where they have the usual suspects on sale, nothing new. But I keep noticing the new Acoustic combos (vintage series or something like that) where they're offering a 25-watt 8", 50-watt 10", and 100-watt 12" for ridiculous prices. My first combo was a new-gen Acoustic and I actually liked it. GC is knocking off 15-25% on what are already competitive prices. My Rumble 100 vetoed me getting the Acoustic 100 so I moved on, but that dang 50 is 25% off making it like $127 and change. I currently do not have a ten in the house, plus it's like the Ampegs with the monitor styling. I haven't heard them, probably won't care in a month, but there's something drawing me to pick up the 50 combo.

Has anyone played through one of these new models, and if so, how was it? The biggest drawback is the 10" combo weighs 30 lbs, which I know isn't that bad, but it won't get out the door before the Rumble. So it's an at-home on the floor toy. As mentioned, school's starting in minutes so playing time will be tight, I have my Markbass sitting in a closet collecting dust, and I need another combo like a hole in the head. hey have one at the Quad Cities store and I'm kicking around a Labor Day run. Thoughts? Thanks a bunch!

Before I bought the 200, I tried both at a GC. I went with the 200 because of its extension speaker capability and the idea of one amp more powerful than I'd normally need. The 2 100s idea didn't come to light 'til recently(for me)and I've had the 200 since Nov., 2015.
