Good morning and Happy Sunday!

I almost forgot about posting this. Earlier this week I signed up for multi-day bass seminar sponsored by the guy who sent the invite to join the Corona Special Orchestra. It’s completely free (unless you want to pay for all the goodies) and includes top-notch bassists talking, playing, and offering you their incite.

If you’ve never done the workshop/conference-thing and want to see what ones like, or if you’re like a certain young lady on this forum looking for an extra ingredient to push her boundaries, this is for you!

BTW, I signed up (for free) and will view it from Command Central when I have evening time available since my days begin filling up starting tomorrow.

After installing new pickups, I've just been playing that one bass, and I have now settled on all the tone controls on my Peavey Basic 40 turned to zero, and left there.
I had done this before, but lately had been messing with the controls, the presence control mostly, but I think that's done.
I really like the amp at it's most basic, I guess, but it sounds great this way.

And that’s all that matters, isn’t it? A typical rule of thumb is it’s better to lower tone controls rather to increase them, and I think you found that out yourself.

What of our poor brains? The garbage, the garbage.... There is no way an ad jingle that aired a half a century ago should still be kicking around, waiting for the right chain of neurons to fire. I heard a tale about some guy who can still play a Blatz beer jingle on his bassoon, and that ain't right. (I had to look up Blatz beer.)

Honey, I’ve had Blatz beer. I not only wouldn’t play it on my bassoon, I wouldn’t even recommend it for consumption. I think they’re gone now. Let’s ask someone hailing from Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Fighting words in some quarters.....

Looks like Stroh's bought up a ton of beer brands, Stroh's, in turn, was broken up, and, purchased by Pabst. It's been many years since I've lived in the Midwest and local microbrews (latter day Blatz, not in quality, but in local provenance) were consumed on visits. I do like the ancient advertising, tho'.

The only thing I miss about Budweiser is their Super Bowl commercials a few years back. The more recent ones have left a lot to be desired IMHO. OOPs, my Studio 40 is calling me...

Some passing acquaintance with the attraction or danger of the local offerings at a neighborhood lemonade stand is good practice. Former bandmates agree — beer brewed with rice is bad news.

It's the international style lager that will get you through strange and exotic places where you have no knowledge of the culture. However a very helpful hint if you are ever well afield .... a tale is told of traveler in the Karakorum who takes great care to buy bottles he can open himself. And midway through his Coca-Cola he wonders how it is that it's so cold. Wanders behind the curry shack to see the refrigerator is a running stream. A running stream that is also used by many people for many things. Upstream.

There is always adventure in the Karakorum. Dysentery is just one of many treasures in these worlds just a few steps off an airliner ....
