The Combo Club

PSst, @iagtrplyr, Mary Spender has your Orange Terror!

no, it's still sitting in my closet, I see the black bag right now. I enjoyed watching her YouTubevideo of trying out Orange amps and revealing which ones she bought, one for guitar and one for bass. In fact, folks, she picked up a Crush 50 combo which means she would be eligible to join our club! Rod, since you know her, get on that please, and thanks!

Good evening. I would like to officially apply for membership in this elite group. Please enjoy this photo of my high end combo amps. A 1st generation Rumble 60 and a new Studio 40. And yes, I have been drinking.

spencejm, I thank you for waiting for me to sign you up. Believe me, you won't regret it. We're a fun bunch who love everything bass, but combo amps seem to be our poison. Wow, a classic Rumbler! Did you mod it at all? I don't remember it having the reddish? brownish? speaker baffle. My son owns a first-gen Rumble and the whole thing was black. Very cool though. Also, gotta love the Studio40 because it is quite the colorful pallette to play through. Nicely done!

You, our newest member, will be forever known as #209. Thanks for being one of those helping us build our club up, one by one. Don't forget to stick your club membership in your sig and to tell your friends, frenemies, and even an enemy or two about us. Thanks!

Glad you're safe and (probably) not a vampire. Also, having been a pizza maker in my youth, even if you're cooking with gas, you wouldn't want to stand in front of a 500 degree oven without the AC! I did for about 3 hours once and I think it literally sucks the life out of you.

Hey there, Prota! Thanks for the well wish and advice. I loved the vampire and 'literally sucks the life out of you' pun. No AC, no fun.

Acoustically Enhanced combo.

Exactly NOT what I need for any reason other than "just because."

Hope I remain qualified for membership.

Just added a GK MBP212 500w powered cab to assist the MB212 Neo II in achieving 1000 watts.

Need to touch up that one spot on the MBP on bottom but otherwise it looks and sounds fantastic.

We're just thankful you are ok and back in the saddle! Things can be replaced, but you my friend are one of a kind and your wit and wisdom were sorely missed the last couple days! Hopefully, you can now enjoy the bass summit while things slowly return to some normality where you are! Now let's get those pizza joints operational! ;)

b, thank you very much! Still doing yard work, but most is cleaned up, or at least it’s in piles. Fortunately, our trash pickup got through and took all the spoiled food with.

As for my passion, I did stay up last night and watch bits and pieces of the first two days. Good stuff, I thought. Yeah, it might’ve been nice to have made the lower-cost pre-purchase, but I think a lot of their material could be found elsewhere.

I especially thought the ladies did a fine job with their takes on the bass and the history that went with their respective themes.

Hope those of you who decided to check out the summit. I say anything bass is good for the planet!

While I was out working in the front this morning a guy walked by looking weary and asked if we got our power back on, and after I told him yes he looked at me forlornly and congratulated me. I told him I bet his street would be next, but as he walked away he said, “I think the trucks missed us and are probably somewhere else.” Kinda hard to follow that up so I asked him, “Have ya ever tried to deadlift an Eighties’ Peavey 115 bass combo amp into the back of a truck?” The conversation ended as he wandered off surely pondering that question.

Strange times we live in...

Yep, not everyone gets the connection between the '80's Peavey and a generator but, I have had both and get the weight connection (if that's what you meant).

You are truly a bass brotha who gets me! I have no room to make fun of Peavey after owning an Ampeg B-2 combo that caused me to skip having a third child. TMI?

OK - all you guys with awesome combos that just "had" to go and add an extension cabinet. I've been searching for one of these and they are very hard to find....

Fender Rumble 112 500W 1x12 Bass Speaker Cabinet | Reverb

Yep - I pulled the trigger. Appears mint and less than a new one (when you could get them of course) including shipping. This is gonna sound so good sitting under my 500 combo! ;)

Ok - I really am done for GAS this year.... (I'll keep telling myself that..) :D

Thanks! Glad you wound up ok. I live in Mid-Missouri and we lucked out this time! Yes, I pulled the grill and speaker off the Rumble 60 and painted it orange. For some reason it's my favorite color.

Thanks again!

I’ll get back to reading and commenting, on previous posts, but I wanted to share a video from our German television interview of the CSO last spring. A compilation of it came out today.

I’ve been told I’m in it twice, but I have yet to watch it through. I wrote on YouTube the damn pandemic put 15 lbs on me...or it may have been the cheeseburgers!

You're welcome, my neighbor to the south. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I think it looks smashing. If you haven't done so yet, take a jog over to the Rumble Club and post your pic there. I bet you'll get some comments from there too!

b, silly boy. We're never truly done for this year or any, especially when you score a biggie like you just did with your cab. I've read numerous times in TB how much players like their 112 and wonder why Fender pulled them out of their lineup so quickly. Enjoy your addition and let us know how it sounds with the two tens.
