Dunno what that is, but power being out with lotsa cleanup to do is not good, at all. Prayers for your area.

Me, too, Souly. Windstorms can be bad enough, but widespread 700+ miles is terrible!

Disclaimer: NOT meant as an "I told you so". I'm always somewhat bemused when people say they wouldn't live in FL 'cos of the hurricanes. At least we get a few days warning. That midwestern damage just happening suddenly is why I'd never live in that area.* My sympathies go out to all affected.

I see what you mean. 1/3 of it was kinda cut off in the first pic. Still a nice looking instrument, but main factor is how it plays and sounds like you're happy with it.

I had to look it up as well since, in Español, it simply means ‘straight’ or ‘law’ or a ‘right’ to do something, and occasionally right as in right handed......but wow, very strong winds! We were surfing the Airstream forums yesterday and a guy had just posted a video of driving his rig and trailer through that area. He said he passed like 40 semis and trailers on their sides..no power for fuel stations,etc. Sounds like a mess. Hope it is all over now!

Yes! Good ole Stella! Back in 1983 I took a ferry ride from Dover to Zeebrugge, Stella was the equivalent of 50 cents a pint! Let me tell you, we had a few!!!

I was not familiar with Ari, but I just finished her session at the Bass Summit and thoroughly enjoyed it! Lot's of takeaways here and not just the PDF and Backtrack downloads, which was a nice touch. Also kinda glad she just did her thing without being guided by Luke. So she's my fave from day 3 lineup. Day one I got a lot of good tips from Nathaniel Andrew and Day 2, I enjoyed Ryan Madoras class the most.Speaking of secret bass lessons, I signed up for the summit. I've enough crisps on my plate I won't be buying the package. I see Ariane Cap is one of the instructors.
This has been well worth the price of admission!
I just hope FL got the lifetime pass thingy as I fear he may still be without power and internet. Not sure what part of IA he resides, but still thousands without both.
Still waiting to see of @iagtrplyr made out with the "storm". Fingers crossed and hoping for the best...

Hello to all, and thank you for all your well wishes, thoughts, and maybe even a prayer or two. As of 7:00 this evening, the power came on in our block, though there are still a few thousand residents of my hometown without power, my mom being one of them. If you haven't been without electricity for a while, let me tell you that it's easy to take for granted until you've been without it for a couple of days.
Short lesson, class: The midwest averages one of these "on-land" hurricanes as they're called (about a Cat One or Two) per year, with the last one I remember back in 2009. And as with hurricanes, it's pretty much all hit-and-miss. This year it hit!
The ingredients were set up perfect for this; fairly hot and very humid with a lot of water in the air ready to dump. It began in Eastern Nebraska and finally wrapped up after it reached Ohio. Winds were over 100 mph in Cedar Rapids, around 90 miles from Clinton. Dewitt, 13 miles west of Clinton, was hit pretty hard too. Coincidentally, we were at their lone McDonald's, down the street from the unlucky DQ you saw in the video this morning, using their WiFi and ordering a quick breakfast. We drove that distance to power up the phones for the day. Man, talk about going back to the 20th Century!
Without droning on, being I know everyone has a story of times like this, except for SoulReflection, who sits in quiet, boring California, where nothing takes place.
We live on a large lot with at least eight trees (I lose count when G'Dog doesn't remind me of tese tings), and the hilarious thing is we didn't lose one tree but were "attacked" by two neighbors' trees which came down in front of half our garage, and another from across the street, blocking our street and knocking down our flagpole! Our town ended u with 14,000 residents without power, and worst yet, every pizza place was shut down and many still are as of this writing. Hamburger places, no problem, but pizza? Faget about it! Cedar Rapids had over 100,000 people still without power ss of this afternoon and they said it may take a week or two to get everyone back. A lot of corn is flattened, houses and barns destroyed, and trees wiped out. Mother Nature sure has a unique way of telling you it's time to update the landscape...
We're finally cleaned up in my neighborhood, other than piles of brush along the curbs waiting to be picked up. I had nothing to do but clean up because my school was without power and still had no WiFi as of this morning. And this was the week I was gonna get my room set up! No matter, everyone's safe and sound, and except for the bat who somehow got in the house that we chased around in the dark last night and had to sleep with the door closed and garlic hung up outside it, it was a fairly uneventful week. While they're illegal to kill, let's just say he met his untimely demise falling out of a two-story window in a half-full Kleenex box. You'll have to buy the book for the details.
I enjoyed catching up with all your posts, and you proved the obvious fact that this club can be run perfectly well without me. True, it lacks a little zing without my over-the-top wit and poignant observations, but hey, RR was giving it his best shot. Seriously, thanks for thinking about me and Iowans in general. It's something I hope I don't see again for a long time, but I have a feeling that ship sailed to Florida to pick up GP.
Okay, back to business. I see we have a new member to bring aboard, look over Rod's new straps, and be envious of those who have taken advantage of Luke's bass sessions. I'm gonna try and catch a little of Day 2 and/or 3 before bed.

PS: thanks, b, for the YT video. Honestly, that's the first I've seen of how it looked without staring out a window or standing in front of the open door to our atrium. I had to feel it to believe it, and I did!
You nailed it, my D4 cohort. It owns a certain spot in a bass player's arsenal that few can beat. You have been bitten by the PJB bug and there's no known antidote. Thank goodness too.

Glad you're safe and (probably) not a vampire. Also, having been a pizza maker in my youth, even if you're cooking with gas, you wouldn't want to stand in front of a 500 degree oven without the AC! I did for about 3 hours once and I think it literally sucks the life out of you.
