Another Combo came my way last week. I answered a CL ad from a person in my town looking to dump an old Anvil keyboard case. Interior foam was gone but the case is still structurally sound. As we live in the same town and it's hard for me to set up a "meet", (I work nights) he offered to drop it off at my place. I told him it was for my son who's an awesome keyboard player. Seems this and the fact that his mom's bestie is my backyard neighbor peaked his generosity. He not only dropped off the case, he also dropped off this Peavey KB-100! FREE!!! So until my son picks it up, I amd fostering yet another combo. Pots are a bit scratchy and it makes a rather loud POP when shut off, but for that price???? Thing is LOUD too...

WOW, long time no see. The KB-100 the first amplifier I had. The best low budget beast on the market... And so versatile that we could drive bass, guitar and vocals through at the same time. In those days we could rehearse in mom's closet. Memorieeeeees are coming back whenever I see these combos...

Took time in this life to visit Mozart's birthplace. And in every certainty I am me, and not Mozart, never was and never will be, I learn my instrument on my own. Ain't nobody else gonna do it for me. Happily I find playing interesting and fun.

Sonny Rollins just turned 90. He is truly my first musical hero, and I nearly followed the way of the saxophone. What I did do was listen to Sonny, I still listen to Sonny and I swear by the strings on my fretty fret frretboard there's master's degrees waiting in what he did with I'm an Old Cowhand. What they all did. First time Ray Brown ever played with Sonny. Ray Brown is the man and well

That I even saw Sonny Rollins live is one of the great blessings in my life.

Sonny still owns me a car radio :rage:.....
He busted it by playing that sax toooooo loud :laugh: (I know toooo many tooooos in to:smug:)

That is certainly a list of things I could do. Or attempt to do. Good advice in several of those lines, and I'm sure I'd be a better player if I spent 5 minutes per day working on them. But none of it sounds fun or interesting, which was my original point. Let me submit a few that are a bit more my style:

Play scales using triplets
Play major key scales in a blues rhythmic style
Play minor key scales in a salsa style
Etc.

Viva la difference! :roflmao:

Uber cool! That’s an even better reason than your PJB goodies for me to be jealous of you! We had to drive a couple hours today and one podcast I played on the trip was a replay [in honor of his 90th] of the Sonny Rollins interview on Fresh Air. His St. Thomas is among the most popular tunes at our Saturday night hotel lobby jams. We are earnestly hoping to resume those jams in safety before civilization collapses around us.

Morning

and all settled in the house — dog is happy, I'm fed and watered — begin to noodle a bit on the BA108v2 Plus. A practice amp. Right here between two rigs that will see me through any live performance (thank you :: takes bow :: ) and

it is that very first time when I play my brand new bass at volume, and my entire body feels the open E. This is for me, moment settles in and stays. Playing in front of a Peavey TNT 100 and extension 15 may not be the word of God but sure feels like it on a good night.

The practice combo amp is right behind my seat at about kidney height, and in kickback position. It feels great to fire up one of these micro rigs enough to get open strings vibrating. For actual practice, which is exactly what I'm doing, I'm using a practice amp. Really, who'd a thunk? Volume is pegged all the way to 3. Which is what started this today, noodling around with major thirds <shrug>

Friend is on her way now and we're taking a picnic in the park.

I really miss the jazz jams on your side of the river. Is this some of the same crew from the art gallery ones a few years ago?

You inspired me to hook up the EB-0 to the "practice amp"(Kasino)@ 2.5-3. I don't dare take it up much above that lest the plates, etc. fall outta the cabinets.
Side note: the cat doesn't like it-sounds too much like thunder.
