The Combo Club

The Underwood Jazz Society, yes.

Hope you all can get back to it sooner than later. We've been able to do a few of our Friday night Americana jams on this side outdoors but there's smoke in the forecast for tomorrow, so I'm not holding my breath. Oh...wait.

You inspired me to hook up the EB-0 to the "practice amp"(Kasino)@ 2.5-3. I don't dare take it up much above that lest the plates, etc. fall outta the cabinets.
Side note: the cat doesn't like it-sounds too much like thunder.

A practice amp because taking it to a gig and back is kind of unnecessary with a combo that's a fraction of the weight? :)

If you tried to pick up my little D4, I think you'd be in danger of falling over backward. I'm still surprised how good and powerful it sounds for such a tiny and light box.

Oh I know and I'm sure the new PJB Compact 2 is just epic with an Elf, and I sincerely do not need more amplification now :roflmao:

I’m so glad you ended up liking the PBJ because whatever street cred I had with recommending combos would’ve gone up in puffs of smoke.

BTW, good evening, one and all. Question: when does four days feel like five days? Answer: right after Labor Day. Bonus Question: when does four days feel like 400 years? Answer: right after Labor Day...this school year!

My incredibly wonderful fifth graders (as well as cold hot lunch) are getting me through.

Time for bass playing on bass equipment along with generous amounts of bass chat. Let the games begin! But remember, in 48 hours the P-bass turns back into a pumpkin!

That's what the P is for.

My week at work was okay. We had a huge surge in Covid cases over the Labour Day Weekend. So we are all being very cautious. I won't be playing much bass this weekend, as I have Leif until Sunday. A dude asked me to lay down some tracks for him, and I'll be doing that next weekend. I haven't really done any 'studio' work since my band released an independent tape in 92! I'm excited!

Doc, that’s both scary and wonderful news, all in the same post. We had over 800 new cases in Ioway alone today and the U of Washington is forecasting double the deaths between now and the new year. 410,000 deaths in the U.S., can you believe it?

Today’s scariest story for me was our school secretary coming into the classroom I was teaching in at the time and proceeded to walk over to one of the boys, tell him he needed gather all his things (including his Chromebook) and cone with her because he was going home.

Why? His older brother was diagnosed positive earlier in the week and we were just being told. This boy was in class with us all week and may be positive. So what’s that mean for the rest of us? God only knows...

On the brighter side, congrats on the studio gig! That is so cool; we’re all envious. Don’t let the 28 years affect your confidence. Just go in and play like you normally would. Are you bringing in gear or is it being provided? Which Hofner? Ooh, the thoughts you must be thinking!

As always, stay safe, our Canadian professor, best studio wishes next weekend!

I think three Hofners should be enough for this session, but I'm leaning four.

Those numbers are very scary. My colleague's son got Covid and then my colleague"s own test came back negative. Not sure how that happened.

I'll be thinking of you and sending good vibes. We are all cheering for all of you down south to turn this around.

Wearing orange can get you in trouble some places, depending on the day you choose to wear it. This happened to me not long ago. I'm not talking about wearing orange in Dublin on St. Patrick's Day :) I chose a loose orange summer top one mornign, and went to the supermarketo. I felt his gaze before I saw him. (Standard creep radar.) Hate, and rage coming through him, directed at me, shopping for bloody groceries. I gave him a full-tilt non-verbal what's your bleeding problem? and went on my way.

I learn that evening someone somewhere started a "wear orange today in support of [take a crazy guess, you know what goes here in 2020 America]" Personally, I've no patience with Troubles reenactors.

If you're going to make mine orange, it's the Orange Terror first. And another C4 ...

Orange Terror Bass amp...the only color of bass amplification I will ever use. I’m astounded by the way it makes my bass sound every time I plug into it, and it definitely loves the Precision. It burbles with the best. M, start up a GoFundMe and get one!

And a 15 cab ... or two :smug:

That kinda sucks for anyone who supports a sports team whose predominant color is orange.

Had to look up "wear orange today in support of" and what I got back made me wonder why you would get such a reaction. Of course, maybe it's just because I low-key support what I heard about. And I tend not to give strong reactions to what people wear, even when I don't agree.

Wondering if Orange and Phil Jones should get together and make a C-Terror combo? Who do we need to call to make this happen?

It seems like orange shirts are used to support a lot of stuff. In Canada we have an orange shirt day to support residential school awareness. Those outside Canada might now know what this is about. Some may consider it political, so I'll leave it there. I things are getting intense already with the talk of the Orange Terror amp ...
