The Combo Club

An aspirational is available on Reverb right now. A Vox T60 form the early oughts. It is in Italy, so the price is good but the shipping cost is prohibitive. Might still pull the trigger if I can get the shipping down.

Doc, that T60 is you! Snag on if you can and I think you’d like it. It’ll fit your Hofner family like a glove.

For me, in that situation, I’ll drop the low-mids down to 10:00 and wipe out the boom. If it’s too drastic, then I’ll gently increase either knob until it’s satisfying, usually the low. To my ears, the mud lives in the low-mid, but I realize so does its Fender heritage. YMMV.

Also, (yeah, there’s more) I use an isolation pad underneath and it does wonder. I think it’s a Gramma, or big fat Gramma...something like that.

Whose Gramma you calling FAT!

First I've heard of a MudStand. My SWAG is a HPF can deal with those hollow stages, too.
Thissyhere is the MudStand Mini. It'll hold the Rumble 200C, so the 100's no problem. Made of high density foam.

ETA: BTW, I was using the one on the right which has little rubber feets that contact the stage.

I've thought about getting one. Main reason I don't? More stuff to hafta power and many times we're short on electric at our places.Like everything plugged into one outlet with 2-or more-power strips coming offa that. If they were battery powered, maybe. But they ain't.:rollno:

Doesn't really matter. Whatever works for you is good.

Auralex's! Check it out...

Hey everybody, I'm finally playing my bass! Can you believe it? 11:30 CDT, after 90 minutes of correcting, I'm actually touching fingertips to steel strings. Hmm...it's a rather strange but unique instrument. Sounds good through this citrus amplifier on top of the big black cab. Sounds I haven't heard in ages. I wonder...I wonder...I wonder if I can play a tune on it? (actually, Goldeneye is due by next Friday and all I've done is run off the sheet music)

GP, I never did ask ya, but am now. How was the gig Friday night? Did ya have fun? Were there any groupies there? Mostly, how did it feel to get back on the road again? How about a detail or two? And please, nothing at all to do with acids, carbon dioxide, or balloons. Trust me on this. Thanks!

There is also for sale in Canada a mini Super-Beetle for 240 USD, delivery included. So tempting! What say you FL?! Is it an improvement over the VX50BA? Is it a combo? So many questions ...

OMG, Doc, grab that super Beetle this instant! Sheesh, and here I'm just reading this earthshaking news. IMHO, it is much better than the combo. Better bottom end even though the driver is the same size. I really think the cabinet size makes the difference. Plus, unlike another combo, it gives you more versatility as you can use the hed any way you like. I have yet to run the head with my Fender cab, but it worked quite nicely pushing my Ampeg 210. For that price, if you don't grab it, I'm sending you to a doctor to get your cranium examined!

Keep us posted.

Very cool, SR. How much does a little picadillo like this here thing cost a guy? Asking for a friend.

Just checked it out. Not a bad price for something I'd stick under my pedalboard and forget. If it helped clean up the bottom-feeding low-end yuck, then I'd say it'd be worth it. I know a lot of players swear by HPF. They shouldn't swear though...it's not polite.

It is not my intention to hurt Auralex's sales, however you can get one of these for ~$12 and they have a handle.

AFA the gig, it was interesting as the better of our 2 guitarist's has medical issues that make him choose to not perform indoors, which this was. However, the Am. Legion Post Commander plays guitar and sings so he played with us. Made for an interesting evening as he does some songs in very different keys than we do so that we all hadda listen to each other. The crowd liked us(or him-or both?). Anyway, we fooled 'em again.
Negatory on the 'groupie' thing. Kinda dangerous under the current 'situation'.

GP, Gramma has a handle on one of the sides. I know, I paid good money for it. I dunno, these have a pretty good reputation as boom smashers. I'd have to see how the $12 version works before I switch allegiance. And I've used mine on a gymnasium stage that is hollow underneath so I know this one works. Plus, what do you think I am...thrifty? Don't wanna let that rep get started.
