The Combo Club

I’ll second!!!

I propose the privilege of bludgeoning anyone who insinuates combos are not “good enough “ over the head with the nearest blunt object, even if said object happens to be the drummer....

Better yet, Recon, let's drop an 80s Peavey or a 90s Ampeg combo from a height of ten feet right on their craniums...maybe too much, I dunno.

Funny, I actually turned the p-up screws a quarter turn down on the DG pup. So didn't really eliminate it until I go back to the GK amp.

Probably have more to report tomorrow. Expected to go to my mom's place today and bring back some more treasures from what used to be my room. No where to put the stuff, and little time to sort it.

Ah, remember those days well. Time to move the $%^& outta the parent household. I believe for me it was three years of my high school newspapers (writer/editor), a warped 45 of Black Water, and an old Playboy underneath the sweatshirts in my drawer. Sadly, my entire baseball card collection conveniently was missing. I coulda bought a bass with those cards...

Books, and a very fine pair of English riding boots, were sacrificed at the Altar of the Flooded Cellar at my parent's home. Wern't no way the bass was staying there. :D

I thought you wrote once that the Alter of the Flooded Cellar was directly behind Mcdougall's Tavern on Glastonbury St where you first played bass? Hmm...maybe it was another Morrighan. My apologies.

I found some Shogun Warrior toys (they are plastic and about 18" tall) that I thought had been tossed. Turns out if I get a good price for them, they'll pay for my amp.

If you wanna lug one of those high enough to drop it on someone’s noggin, FL, I’ll gladly let you.
I’m a gonna smack ‘em with the drummer...

What’s an English, and how does one ride it?
Are they like motorcycles or what?

I've opened up my VX50BA with the help off FL and G-Dog. Sounds great with my number one, my 68. I love G-Dog's Starcaster, but I'll always be a Hof guy.

No thanks needed, my violin bass buddy. I’ve got so many dang amps it takes me forever to get through the lineup. Right now the Orange is gonna help me record Celebration, and then I thought I’d spend some clean time with my Phil Jones. After that, if I’m feeling rather British, I’ll make the Foxy Voxy rig my headliner. It needs a good romp too.

I’m so glad you like it because I was gonna try and convince GP to but it from you. Can you imagine the Vox next to his Kustom? Hilarious!

Finally, I noticed that amp likes to be pushed. It’s kinda meh at really low from levels and I live it at noon-1:00 fain and volume around noon. Show that speaker who’s boss. The fuzz is fun too, especially if you're imbibing on a Saturday night!

Yeah, I was going to bother you with some EQ suggestions for the Mini Super, but it is packed away until I either sell some stuff or Xmas. We're you making suggestions for combo or the Mini stack?

The mini stack. The combo has been benched and is hopefully heading to Ohio as soon as life returns to normal. Too many combos ahead of it and I like the rig better. Gimme a buzz with EQ Qs when Jingle Bells ring.

Speaking of selling things, I’m updating the music room so I can turn it into more of a recording studio and need to move some things. I’m seriously kicking around selling the Jazz bass. She’s not getting used anymore and is collecting dust. Between the P and Beatle bass I’m covered. What are you looking to get rid of, Doc?
