The Combo Club

I think it's a MB 1x12 combo. It belongs to the guitarist/sometimes bassist at whose house we rehearsed, so I didn't hafta bring one of mine. If I was gonna play through it a lot, I'd f---* with the EQ and try to get it to reproduce a decent tone(in case you hadn't guessed, I strongly dislike it). If we do any more rehearsals, I'll take one o' mine. Or get there early and make adjustments. Out of consideration for him, I left his settings pretty much as is(was?). FWIW, I played 2 very different basses[Ibby AGB 200 and EB-0]through it. Still yuck.:spit:

*ool
I’ve played through one of the 2x10 kickbacks (probably the CMD 102P). We got along fine.

AH, no teaser? No clue? Nothing? Give us the latest after NAD becomes official.

Which one is most likely?
Ha ha!
Okay!
I could have done better.
The amp is awesome for sure, but the fun part is that it’s a piece of a monstrosity that I will build with it.
I’ve posted about it before.
Im starting to realize, I have strange ideas about amps...but others share this idea with me. All part of me coming to the conclusion that for me, combos give me the most options.
It’s over 3 hours one way to pick it up. I was supposed to be sleeping in, but the excitement has me up and making coffee getting ready to go...(That last part is not a hint, just a commentary). :D

Okay, Combo Club.
I apologize for the multiple posts, but I’m trying to stall.
I told the guy I’d be there to pick up the amp in the afternoon so I have to wait to leave.
I’ve entertaining myself with other tasks in the meantime, so you’re stuck with my extra posts. :D
Anywhoodles, I’m warming up on this guy, because if I’m checking out an amp, us 5er players always have to ask that question:
“How does it handle the B string?”

Let’s stay on topic.
Here’s a combo:

Roland Street Cube EX @Wasnex
...and an Ampeg Classic preamp.

If you have an extra B string, just take it. No need to schlep the bass.

How well does the cube handle bass at volume? Do you cut out the low end?

It’s okay.
You can hear the notes and distinguish them from each other, but it’s not a beautiful bass sound.
You have to gauge your expectations with this one. For me battery power was the requirement so I was willing to sacrifice quality of sound.
The Ampeg Classic warms up the sound for sure.
I’ll be looking into a high pass filter though to address the issue you’re asking about.
It may be a little while though.
I just got the Ampeg Classic and need to work with that for a bit.
Plus, i just got back from picking up a new combo...:D

Ampeg-inna-pedal makes every amp sound better :woot:
(to my ear)
Right?!!!
I’ve had a really good time messing with it.
It makes it so you can actually FEEL the bass sitting in front of it.
And it’s just 25 watts.

...AND NOW: THE BIG REVEAL!!!!!
What’s better than a combo?
TWO combos!
I got a second Ampeg BA115 to make my modular 300 watt two 15 stack.
I haven’t even had a chance to play it yet, so I’ll share impressions and thoughts in a later post, but here’s the 4 foot tall beast in all its glory!

Nothing beats a pile of Ampegs, or it must be a larger pile of Ampegs.
When I look at your setup, I see possibilities for launching new terms such as: Head combo and Cabinet combo...

I advise you not to connect these with a bracket or you can go and live next door to Pandora (who is still trying to get those amps and drivers and all the additional problems back in that box.):smug::bag::blackeye:

Is this too much fun to even be legal?

Tower o' power right there!
I had been imagining it for a little while, but it was taller than I thought once I set it up!
3 things of beauty.
Thank you!
Actually, there should be FOUR!

I’ll do a family photo later!

Well it was too much fun to try out last night and this morning!
Better wait a little longer until the neighbors wake up-on their own!!!

Yes!
So the one on top is the “head combo” and the bottom one is the “cabinet combo”...or “extension combo” maybe?
