This evokes memories. There was a time when there was a crocheted toilet paper hat on the hat shelf in every car.
I don't recall ever seeing a hat but I remember lots of folks had the crocheted kleenex box cover. What were people thinking?

Hey let's not mess with the classics. Everyone loves bubbles and Lawrence Welk definitely wasn't for me, but that guy was a national treasure.
Hat shelf? Hat shelf! So that's what that space is/was!?! I thought it was the granny decoration shelf. Or it was the gripe shelf for OCD drivers that didn't want anything whatsoever blocking the rear view mirror.
Then, in the '60s, it became the rear speakers shelf for our 8-track tape players!

My former Peavey TNT 100 is old enough for it's own crochet cover 
I'm liking it a lot so far; I've only had it about a week, and I'm still running through all the options & settings, & trying different basses.
I've been doing 50+ hours at work, so it's kinda slow going

Ok...ok...ok...I get the hint. This amp is 12"x12"x9"....that's less than a cubic foot and it's tracking the low B on my 6 string really nice. I noticed that the EQ wasn't set flat earlier...it had a heavy bass cut dialled in. Now it's nailing my low B...no issues at all. This little bass combo is giving my PJB Cub 100 a serious run for it's money! I'm seriously tempted to buy another one for myself for small rehearsals....when ever we get back to being allowed to...post covid. I'd love to know what driver is in this combo.
So what is that a 10" speaker?
Specs say 8 inch. Impressive. And not terribly expensive. When my church opens back up that may be a nice option for our acoustic group's bass amp, miked up or DIed into the PA.

It's a bass that I built way back in 2005. The body shape was heavily influenced by Rob Allen. However, this bass is 2 1/4" deep and made from maple. It's a fair bit bigger than Rob Allen's body. It's a heavily chambered internally. There's no sound holes or F holes. The internal chambers are sealed, even the rear control cavity is separately sealed. The idea I had was to keep all of the acoustic energy internal. The white binding is very Rob Allen influenced! I carved the bridge from a solid block of Cocobolo. It's design is influenced by Rob Allen, in it's shape (although this one is a lot bigger) and I loved his idea of the integrated volume control.That's a nice looking little combo. I'll need to do some research.

The neck is a three piece walnut and maple laminate and is a set neck. Twin truss rods. Cocobolo lined fretless fingerboard. A 5 string with a zero fret. Bone nut and Hipshot ultralite tuners. The pickup is unusual, it's a highlander IP-2 under-saddle piezo mated to it's class A preamp. It's very similar to the pickup Rick Turner uses in his renaissance range of basses. It's currently loaded with Tomastic acoustic nylon core strings (again another nod to Rick Turner). Although it looks a lot like Rob Allen's work, which is certainly on of it's influences, it's also influenced tonally by Rick Turner. oh...and it's super light weight too
