Hello there,

I have already asked this question on the GK thread, but it is very possible that I will get more different answers here.

Can someone explain to me what the real difference is between Gallien Krueger Legacy Combo 2x10'' and Gallien Krueger Fusion S Combo 2x10''?

Both are listed and available on the Thomann Germany website, Legacy Combo 2x10'' for 1239€ and Fusion S Combo for 1290€.

All characteristics are listed completely identical for both, from power, speakers, dimensions, weight...
As far as I know, the Legacy series is a Class D digital power amp as well as Fusion (which supposedly has tubes in EQ). Is that the only difference?

I currently have an MB212-II which is also a Class D digital power amp, so I'm generally interested in what the difference is between these three models, if we consider the same speaker configuration for all three (2x10''), and is it worth to change from MB if I do not need more power then 500W?

Thanks for keeping the clubhouse warm, AH. I’m currently AWOL and will be until after the 22nd, when winter break (thank the Lord) begins for 12 luxurious days. I do plan on being on tonight or tomorrow to catch up on the zillions of posts I’ve missed.

What’s been great is the influx of new members and/or lurkers who've become regulars and are sharing their stories. Though I still love to see many of our oldsters drop by, it’s nice to know our club welcomes new comboites (is that the correct spelling?) regularly.

And don’t forget to add your Combo Club # to your sig as we’re always looking to add new members to the flock. In fact, I’ll update you all with our latest club membership list as soon as I get the opportunity. It’s been a while.

Finally, here’s what I’m currently rocking with in my hideaway. After Christmas I’ll be assembling my DIY recording studio (don’t get excited, it won’t be much) and am kicking around the idea of making my Double 4 the “house” amp for my system. I’ll share my vision with you, if it works, after it’s completion.

Having an actual plan more comprehensive than "I can make this bass go" is probably a good idea. Before all what went down and such

well in fact the very weekend when the doors of a normally functional society were slammed shut was also the weekend of a regional blues band tryout for the summer festival than never happened. And a very good thing it would have been to make my appearance there — as a guest — and make myself visible. Party canceled, and I ̶w̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶e̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶w̶a̶y̶ ̶h̶o̶m̶e̶ returned to my music theory study!

It's a good area for blues, actually a good area for all sorts of things, even live entertainment for the Sunday brunch crowds. Reasonable volume, all done with the PJB BG-400 combo amp that will never break a sweat. And home in time for dinner.

On tap is a recording or three for my Website. Website isn't going to get traffic until I get out there and seen, or at least talk with local musicians. Find folks of the same mind ....

You do have good taste! Yeah, and the stinkers are up five bucks from last year too. I wanted to snag a twin but I’m less enthused about it.

I ordered another Ampeg ba210. I think I really got my best tone out of that combo. Got rid of it because of the weight but everything else was great. Now I just need to find a better way to transport it.

My Website is linked in my sig with a (hopefully) clear indication of content Content that still lacks sound. My intention for a representative sample of my (alleged) ability is performance-grade. The reality of that intention hasn't been met in time (yet!) so all that is there to see are pix. Pictures don't get me the gig (but they don't hurt, either). What I trust is clear from the posted material is I'm not audition material for the new Plasmatics.

Just checked the Fender site and see the button "notify me when available". Did not click. Might have, had it been in stock. Maybe.

For me, batteries I could buy at a store and the wedge shape have landed me solidly with the Cube EX for now. Price was a factor for the PJ, too.

I feel like a lot of y'all have had these experiences and hope it's amusing watching a rookie earn his stripes.
I was in a Gen X power trio for a while. It was pretty neat to focus on the music of our generation. I was in an acoustic trio with a couple of guys that played Hippie music. It was nice to see how much the songs from the 60s meant to a crowd that knew that music from their teens and twenties. That's where I got the idea.
Also, you've got to watch the National Geographic special on Generation X. It explains a lot.

That's super smart. It'll pay off big time. I'm a HUGE fan of theory. I think that's what gives bass lines depth and texture. That's REALLY clear in these Zeppelin lines I'm learning!
...and still super intrigued by you and @iagtrplyr 's modified BA108s. So did y'all switch the speakers yourselves or have someone do it?

That may be Morrighan, as you currently own an Elf. But did you notice that even the $250 base model has an XLR out? For someone looking to add a gig bag spare, that’s mighty interesting. Also, for the same price as the 2020 Elf, $350 I believe, you can pony the wattage on the Gnome up to 280 or something in the vicinity.

Obviously, without having g heard it I wouldn’t get excited, but on paper it looks like TE finally has look-alike competition.

True, true, I own an Elf and the Elf is still a gig virgin. To my ears the Elf is quite capable of rock tones, and I'd have no hesitation using it when I want to bring "a little extra". The native voicing of the other two are unknowns, so not saying yes is not equal to saying no What's interesting to me in this department of micro-not-combos unheard (by me) is the Ashdown Ant. Not too crazy about ants myself, nor particularly interested in stepping on ants. But that may be an attraction in an amplifier pedal for people who think they're stepping on an [never mind] ... the Ashdown voicing is apparently well-regarded.

Ashdown amps have a wonderful tone. I seriously considered buying one but the Ampeg 115 was half the price. Couldn’t talk myself into spending that much more.

To my knowledge the only difference between the Legacy and Fusion S is the tube in the pre. They are also supposed to be voiced more towards the 800rb, classic GK. They do sound great. But if you really like the tone you have with the mb212 you have, save your money. That’s a great combo.
