The Combo Club

Yep, I like strange quirky things, including basses. So the Nordy Cat Bass speaks to me. Plus I'm interested in swapping my stock pickups in my Squier Affinity Jazz with his NJ4SV pups. Just to get rid of the hum when soloing one pup, but want to maintain the standard Jazz sound. But the pups are more than the whole bass was. :greedy:

Looking at where Clinton and Muscatine are, it seems you and @mikeoso could easily visit one another once the pandemic is over.

Playing an ES-335-shaped bass object through a PJB combo of four (or eight), five inch speakers likely qualifies as strange, quirky, weird. Especially in light of how many 7ender-shaped objects will do absolutely everything expected of any bass-shaped object. Especially when a FSO is played through a combo with a 15 inch speaker ... first love and all. :p

I put a humbucking single coil Seymour Duncan in my Aria for a lower cost than the NJ.

I at least had a go with my twin combo + outboard speaker. The Blackstars make worthy tweeter boxes. I can mike it into the PA for anywhere too big for them

How did it sound compared to the original single coil Jazz pup? Would like to have as true of a single coil sound as possible, but without the hum. Most reviews of humbucking replacements mention a loss of the original pickup sound.
I couldn't tell one from the other, but for the hum. How big a loss do reviewers talk about?

I can still remember I bought some Moterhead and The Sex Pistols, badges and stickers in a gift shop of a monastery where they also printed The Holy Bible
