Very interesting! you may be right. Care to explain your thinking? The guy who asked about the 4x8 Hartke combo a number of days ago; I feel bad we had no one able to give him an account of it. I'd love to try it out to satisfy my curiosity over multiple 8" drivers. Like I'm sure you're thinking if our BA-108 v2+ speakers were grouped in an array of two or four, and with plenty of power, 200-300 watts behind them, why couldn't that be a viable combo for home and, depending on weight, a possible small-med gigging? I think Trace Elliot/Peavey may be onto something with their combos so why not? Good start, M!

An Elf combo would make a great deal of sense to me were I a gigging bassist in a city with a good public transportation infrastructure. Gig bag on back, one hand carry, done. The combo is the same cost as the head and cab ... why carry two when one will do? Which is the basic idea behind any combo, IMO.

I predict a more sane 2021 for reasons I am not allowed to say.

I will have a "few" glasses of wine after a shrimp salad dinner, watch the earlier time zones celebrate before going to bed early, because that is what GOF's do.

Tomorrow I will carefully exercise my digits playing bass and look forward to a nice, home-cooked roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, horseradish and veggie dinner...life is good.

Our gig tonight is booked 'til 0015. If our previous gig there is any indication, we'll prolly end earlier. I'll then drive ~50 miles home and consume a 'wee dram' of Jameson Stout Edition, then becoming horizontal and non-functional.

Love it, SR! you're gonna have to explain that GOF philosophy now that I'm old enough to be in it. Your dinner tomorrow sounds delish. We're doing leftovers from tonight's "party" and a couple of turkey drumsticks held over from T'giving. I'm rather looking forward to it all, except for the 2-4 inches with ice chaser starting around 9:00 AM CST. Good day for some four-string playing. The CSO's January song rolled in today and it's Hallelujah. A tad somber, but a nice tune to play regardless. After Mariah Carey, ya have to turn the cheeriness it down a notch.

Happy New Year to all our Combo club members, lurkers, and TalkBass folks in general. Here's to a great 2021 where you weekend warriors can finally get out and earn an honest living doing what you love to do...play music. Cheers!

UK has head and speaker at lower cost than combo. The head is small enough to put in a gig bag. The only time I played through an Elf head, it was plugged into someone else's 4x?? speaker. You couldn't plug a combo into a bigger 4ohm speaker. Head-and-speaker lets you do more. The Markbass comboes can run with the inboard speaker unplugged.
