The Combo Club

That's as good a reason(excuse?)as any.

I am certain we did determine the Combo / Not Combo status of the Vox Mini Superbeetle, but for the life of me I can't recall what we decided? Because from here the combined statement of the Vox and an Acinonyx together looks like a lot of fun. So much of the Mini Superbeetle falls in the if only, if only end of the pool, though. I see none of the seepage from the if only culvert in the Acinonyx. Hipshot bridge, Hipshot tuning machines, Nordy custom single coils <scrim smack>

We each want something a little different(what we 'hear' in our heads). Otherwise we'd all have a 'P' and and a flip-top B-15.

I find what I want to hear becomes more refined over time. It doesn't feel to me to have changed.

My favorite sound(s) came from a pairing of these:

Hahahahaha!

I love how she said "I can't do this" and then did it perfectly. Please tell her thank you!

Exactly, this is the coolest part. It's a good time to be reconnecting!

I very sincerely hope y'all are safe and healthy. ;)
Yep, being able to help one friend answer a question by reconnecting with a friend who used to wax poetic about Rundgren was a real treat, and made for a fine night.

I'll pass on your thanks!
:D

Cheetahs on the brain, my friend. Cheetahs on the brain.

I could be wrong, but I don't recall the Vox Mini SuperBeetle even being discussed as a possible combo. But regardless, you should def follow your bliss. And post pix!!

Well, yeah. If only the VMSB Bass had a bigger speaker, like the guitar version. If only the VMSB Bass could add another cabinet for more power & SPL, like the guitar version. If only I could get two of the guitar VMSBs and close the back of their cabs with bass-tuned ports and play bass thru a head with two 10" (or 12"!) cabs (and have a spare amp in case they are too much like their original SB ancestors). If only ... ... [insert your wish here] ... ...

Rumble made a 2x12 cab.

VMSB Bass has all the vibe I'd love to showcase, and (from what I can see) isn't even a swing and a miss for anything much more demanding than groovy vibes. Enough grunt for the drummer to hear me, and a post-EQ DI is my wish. There, I said it. Penance is carrying a 7ender relic to Meridian, Mississippi after chopping down a tree with a herring.

I gotta ask, what does a tree need with a herring? :smug:

The combo that would work for my actual needs — respective of cool Vox vibes — is probably the Fender Studio 40. Owing to The Thing That's Still Going Around, recording is my first need. Amp modeling in front of the DAW sounds like my sort of thing. Also what sounds like my sort of thing in the not-so-imaginary-world of live gigs is a Trace Elliot Transit B. I dig the Elf's EQ

I've test driven the Elf a few months ago. I saw one in a shop and after hearing all your good reviews, I had to test it... (truthfully only 5-10 minutes)
I took a fiver off the rack and plugged in and..... It did all it was expected to do: Clean, enough presence, flawless and good volume... but my heart didn't skip a beat.
It didn't spoke to me. (maybe I should've spent more time with it)
For me an Amp should be alive ;)
I love that you found a nice playmate in it tough.:bassist:
