Popped into a pawn shop today while I was out. Sometimes I find great deals on tools. Don't really find or see anything. Glance at the "music section " see 2 cheap no name guitars that were probably over priced at 25 bucks. I keep wandering and check the last isle and was immediately confronted by a rumble 40 and a 200... both in great condition! If they had a bass there I would have plugged in and possibly come home with them. might revisit them tomorrow with my bass

IDK. I think at one point we had maybe 15(?). Capacity is around 30, tops.
Our audience wants to be able to talk w/o yelling. We keep everything down to a low roar.
That's a nice setup, C7. Do you sense the B-15 vibe coming from the REDDI?
Then you were right, the 40 would be perfect for that gig, especially if it was lower-volume anyway. Even the 100 would've been slightly overkill. I curse myself every time someone says how much they like the 40 because I've not even played through one yet. Many prefer it over the 100 because it having a tighter bottom compared to the 12.
We're at this place-a house converted to a small beer and wine bar-next Thursday also. I'd take the B25 again but it weighs 2x the weight of the R40.
On another note(Db), I've been visiting Ft. Madison, La Plata, MO, and Elkhart, IN, on YT again. What's all that white stuff in the air and on the ground?
I'm sure you're reading the conversation between GP and me as I type this. That's what I call an omen, Nu. Tomorrow, grab your bass and drive directly to the pawnshop. Play through both, decide which one you like (or need more), tell the guy the bass seems weak, see if he'll drop it a few bucks, make the buy, take it home, and have fun. Then report to us with your findings and final cost.
I'd say that sounds like a pretty good day shaping up!

Contrary to my normal pedal-less way, I dug out my old 'el cheapo' phaser for the last 2 gigs. It works well for some of the semi modern jazz tunes.

I reported to Great Lakes Recruit Training Center in February of 1970, soon after the college dean and I came to an understanding. Those peacoats were thick and heavy but their warmth wasn’t nearly equal to the bulk and weight. The wind across the lake made everything feel thin and drafty.

My pop was in the navy 20 years before you were, my uncle served in the naval air force in the sixties (he scored me a sailor's cap which was my pride and joy when I was around seven), and my cousin here in town was the first Clinton, IA kid (age 19) killed over in 'Nam. 1968 or 1969, I believe. My stepson served 15 years ago in the air force and served in the Middle East as an aircraft mechanic. Do you hate snow too, like Gone Plaid? He had one annoying time with it and won't come near the Midwest now. Can you believe it?
Just finished recording a version of "Theme for Imaginary Western" that I found on YT from a guy with an acoustic. The bass fit alongside beautifully and the wav version of it sounds great. The mp3 I made to send around to my enemies is muddy, thuddy, and duddy. Wow, I knew there was a difference, but tonight's recording made that painfully obvious. No mp3s out my email without a warning label to the listener!

This seems to me a very good point. A combo for tight spaces / low volume levels may seem counter-intuitive in a world where high power and high volume are primary selling points. To me, if a Rumble 40 gets the job done at a fraction of the weight of a "big" amp, I'm taking a Rumble every time.
Native Miamian. I arrived 12/01/1964; left 2/13/1965. Had the midnite dumpster watch 12/25/64. Wind chill off the lake reported as -16F. If someone really had wanted the dumpster, I'd have helped. Just to warm up a bit.
As a native Californian who has lived in New England for 20 years don’t mind the cold. But I do remember my first year when I was at UMASS Amherst. The wind really whips through that campus and one March morning I stepped outside the library and the wind hit me and I thought “I’m going to die! I’m not going to make it back to my dorm room!” Ha ha. The next year we had a cold snap where for about 3 weeks straight the high was like 10 and the low would be like -15. After it was over I remember sitting on my porch drinking tea and thinking how nice the weather was. It was probably about 28.
My uncle lived in north Alaska for a while and he said the teenagers wear shorts once it gets about 25 or so.
I had used the 2000 Bassman 25 the previous time we played there. It is more than enuff for that small space (think living room). Why not use the B25 again? It weighs more than twice as much as the R40. We're there again Thursday, 2/4. Might take the B25 anyway. WTH.

Respect and gratitude to all who have or are serving. The getting up at 0230 to shovel snow is a good indication of why I was never in the military.
Who is the YT acoustic guitar player? Some of us may want to check it out to see if we are similarly inspired.
The REDDI is definitely the closest I’ve found, with the Ampeg b-100r coming in second. The cool thing about the Tech 21 cab is that it’s totally transparent. It does have an EQ section of needed, but it’s not. Haha. Also has HPF/LPF. The LPF is ok for bass, but the HPF is around 100hz. So I don’t use that. It only weights 24 pounds also. That’s great.
Apparently, back in the '60's, many Soul/R&B recording studios used a mic'd Ampeg B-15 or a custom made interface, similar to the REDDI for THAT sound

I grew up Southwest of Chicago, so the snow, wind and cold wasn’t the shock to my system that GonePlaid suffered. Post Navy (I served six years active duty) I rode my motorcycle around the country for a year then settled (by invitation of a friend’s in-law) in Southern California. SoCal lost its charm pretty quickly and I had Montana in mind when I met a California native redhead who influenced a change of plan. Forty-some years along we’re still an item, I still have and restored that motorcycle, I replaced the bass that was stolen, converted from separates to combos, we moved to Oregon (YAY!!!) and here I am.
