It's interesting that Jack wasn't much of a fan of his tone with Cream either—so you're in good company.
It always saddens me when a band who works so hard is completely ignored. Several years ago we took the kids for a hayride at a farm in NJ. For whatever reason they had a rock band playing there. They were absolutely awesome with a full Hammond organ playing all the great classics like House of the Rising Sun and nailing everything. But they were literally playing for no one as everyone was just there to get fall treats and pet the animals. Perhaps they had a connection there and were happy to play. But it just seemed wrong.
We're s'posed to be part of the draw to sell bikes. Also raising $ for veterans.
Right. I guess ostensibly this group was there to help sell pumpkins. They just didn’t get the love I felt they deserved.
TE ELF COMBO initial impressions as a travel combo. AMAZING. fit easily into my trunk without having to unpack anything orv decide what not to bring. I can play it quietly in hotel rooms but still have a good full sound. It's super light weight I can grab it and another bag in one hand, gig bag on my back and another piece of luggage in the other hand and not break a sweat. I've only been able to use it a handful of times so far, Drill Sergeant School is rather intense but in the few moments I've been able to relax and turn off my brain it has been a joy to plug into this little guy. The headphone jack obviously comes in handy in the later hours as well. It comes with a very long power cord and a pretty rugged cover as well. I'm happy with the money spent.
It’s impossible for me to pick a favorite recorded Monk performance but this one is a real contender. I’ve looked all around youtube for more of each of these players and come away pleased.

That Kustom 150 kicked serious @$$ sound wise. Unfortunately it also kicked mine. Has handles on both sides, prolly intended to have 2 ppl lift the thing. That whole Elf line is very attractive. Lightweight affordable cabs and combos? What’s not to love? I seriously looked at the Elf head and combos. And I dig that Shrek green color. Reminds me of my old Prince racquets. Haven’t really heard anything negative about them. (Both the racquets and the amps)
It's rare that I could or would take a bass on non-music travel, but for certain situations have done so, along with the Genz Benz 3.0 head - it is small, and with a headphone jack and aux input, I can get a lot done.
I have my GT-1000CORE with me, my amplug, I could have brought any of my preamps as well. I wanted a combo. I'm here for quite a while and I have no problem using headphones on short trips but when I'm looking at months of travel this little guy is coming with. Once I get my assignment I'll leave it in my office.
I will be taking the single cutaway JB I built along with the Amplug and a 6str acoustic For the next two months in our Airstream. We sold our house in San Miguel de Allende and are buying one near Atotonilco on 2.5 acres, 7 miles but 20 minutes away.. We close on the 28th on both houses. Then leave for our Western USA tour on the 30th!!! Crazy, but the Amplug, a ton of AAA batteries and headphones will help me stay sane. Hopefully I will get to play with guys I have not jammed with for 40 years.
Congrats to ya, JPD! Sounds like you're gonna have quite a fun summer. I wouldn't be surprised you find some of us oldsters out there looking to create new musical relationships with other humans. I'm just getting back this week to playing with our band director as we're prepping for our annual (minus last year) fifth-grade farewell song. We rehearsed once last week and just yesterday morning before school. Man, it felt good to hear yourself in a room different than the one you've been shacked up in for the past 14 months! Get out there and have some fun...it feels just like it did pre-pandemic!

Amen, my brotha! I realize everyone who has toiled away their adult life has faced obstacles the rest of us can only imagine, but unless you’re an educator of youth you have no idea the torment that can come out in one month, especially May. Recon is being nice calling them heathens...and I’m talking about the staff!
The kids want to go home, especially this year. The teachers are out of ideas to keep it interesting. We’re all out of patience with one another! It’s like the annual family BBQ where you already know it’s gonna be a train wreck but you have to stay for dessert regardless.
Thr crazy thing is it’s been a great year overall. Our building was open all year, we made all of the guideline restrictions work, and we’re currently enjoying a more back-to-normal events schedule.
Still, Recon, we hear ya! Hang in there and don’t hand over your spare key to the music room. It’s our last week and I know they’ll still be tears shed...by those who still have another quarter-century to go!
Teaching college during the pandemic has been exhausting. I'm sure it is worse at the primary and secondary levels. I will be dragging myself over the finish line this year.
