Yes, and I should have a while ago. We were just getting to know one another too. He sent me some great rock music he did years ago and I figured he'd be our Aussie connection for some time. I definitely hope things are okay. I'll send up a flair this weekend and see if anyone answers. Thanks for the reminder, guys.
armybass, let me know if you'd like to make it 4 for 4 with new members for this week. You definitely qualify, plus I'll feel better knowing there's an army guy in the ranks! Combo Club Question of the Week: What's the smallest, lightest real combo amp you've ever had?
For the purposes of this discussion, amps like these don't qualify:
My R40 is the smallest I've had/have. I've never bought a "practice" amp. Because we play small(er) places, even my B25 is usable at many gigs. We had a gig last night, which is an annual banquet, and I remembered the room as bigger so I took my Rumble 200c. I coulda easily gotten by with my R40. BTW, we don't run the instruments through the PA. Since I live by myself in a detached house, I use this as my practice amp:
That question made me feel old, and tired, I have only had three bass combos, and still have them, I guess the Peavey Combo 300 is the smallest snd lightest, other two are Fender Studio's. They are bigger, and I think heavier too.
Hey, Plaid man! I bet your Rumble 40 is lighter than your Bassman 25, also. It's great what modern technology can do for us, ahem, ... more mature bass players. And I bet that Kasino could detach rooms from your house, given the chance. 
PT, if you think this question makes you feel old, don't ever get herniated discs that require back surgery to allow you to walk again! I still feel old, since they didn't fix the arthritis they also found, or the muscle aches, but I have a renewed appreciation for whatever life I may have left.
It's certainly not my intention to disparage anyone who has not (yet) partaken of the newer lightweight amps. Actually, I love to see older technology still in use, (much like my body). Your Peavey 300 is a venerable workhorse of a combo.

The R40 is indeed 15# lighter than the B25(!). The 25 still sounds good for being as old as it is, but it doesn't go out much anymore. I do like the fact it's a kickback design. Yeah 29 pounds of kickback design for a 20 watt Ampeg yet what a beautiful amp it is. Which makes it the smallest, lightest amp I have ever owned. Had I showed up with the BA108 anywhere in 1980 I might have sent a couple friends to their deaths from laughter.
And this Vox VX50BA looks like a real workhorse. Drop my VT Bass in front of it as my DI and that rolls through my mind like a [metaphor goes here]

Indeed, advanced technology often looks insufficient to users of older gear in most endeavors. Haha! I feel very lucky to have such available in my time of need.
Well, ma'am, unless you put some EQ into your "DI" you wouldn't need the VT! As I hope I mentioned in my gig report, the Direct Out on the VX50BA is totally uncolored and unamplified. Other than that, I was very pleasantly surprised at it's performance, although it did look a little pathetic on the amp stand.

Seems to me worth playing with and without the VT in live settings is the ticket. My PJB Suitcase is as an accurate combo as can be, and it plays very well with others as is. Pretty sweet. It also weighs several times the Vox, and for my needs now
For my needs now I'm seriously considering an Elf for when I need an amp but no cab, and to read everything the Elf is an awesome match for my C4. Means (to me) I can show up with just my loaded gig bag and that's kind of important in my mind. A proper setting for the Suitcase and C4 as a rig, well drool
For now something smaller, and under 10 pounds of carry for a transparent combo that will do the job is mightifully engaging ....(I do love the VT, it just warms up the tone from a warm-toned bass.)

Amen! I second Doc's positive comment and appreciate Dog's fine prose explaining why he's falling for a certain Vox amp.
With all the club banter circulating around this little wonder box, it makes me want to audition it with and without my Zoom pedal. Yeah, I need another small amp like a fourth ear. Yes...I have three ears, what's the big deal?
Question about the Direct Out mentioned above. Pardon my ignorance, but you're wanting a colorless output to the PA? I mean I see the benefits of a clean signal to the sound person, but in a more casual setting I thought it might be an advantage to get some of warmth from the amp. Isn't that the point of an emulated output? In that respect, I agree with M because the VT can offer up some vintage tone.
So anyone out there who can offer their two cents is welcome to. Thanks in advance!
I like to control the sound I send to the board. There is at least one song we do that goes from clean verses to heavy distorted bridges. I use a footswitch to make the transitions. I don't think our church soundman gets quite that intimate with individual tones.
