My Nana and Grandpa lived in Waterville Quebec. Eastern Townships near Sherbrooke. We drove up from Boston where I lived every Christmas. Sometimes more dicey than others!! This before Interstate built, sooooo.

All the way up Rt 3 past North Conway, Indian Head and Clark’s Trading Post, more railroad crossings than you could shake a stick at to cross the border near Newport, Vermont to arrive in Quebec! :woot:.

That childhood and eight more years in Northern Vermont have my membership card firmly punched!

Best time to ski us when it’s -17F out. No lines at lift, brilliant sunshine, and too cold to snow!:woot:

Remember! Layers!!! :smug::smug::smug::hyper:

Broughton Always On does not use a pedal...that was my choice.

Tech 21 Q-Strip EQ and Preamp Pedal

that Q-Strip looks interesting too. Maybe this is the elusive “more” I’m looking for.

And I understand @SoulReflection that yours is the always on so not a pedal. I may get that in the end. But having to use another cable to go in to something and out is what I mean. If I’m going to go through that process I may want more than just the Broughton always on HPF. But maybe not.

In full admission of not RTFM-ing the Q-Strip, my expectation is the HPF and LPF work very much the same as the cab sim on my Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe. Both are fixed points. On the VTBD, the HPF kicks in ~50Hz and is exhibits a very gentle slope. That alone should clean up the lows a bit, and will help protect from speaker excursion ... to me as strictly a user and not an engineer that means it may or may not clean up the signal when I'm in funky rooms with hollow stages &c &c on to forever.

Guessing the LPF is fixed at 5kHz like mine, and it's a very steep cutoff. Maybe good enough, maybe not. For me, yes, but I'm not playing dub. Er, much. Not for pay. Right now.

Totally content here with carrying a pedalboard to rehearsal, even. Now that I see rehearsals as something that's happening. If / when the Thing That's Going Around is in a steady state. Who knows? What I see for certain is a long schlep with a gig bag. One hand free for the (small) pedalboard. Why take a pedal to rehearsal? HPF, for one ;) ... actually it means to me I get the same tone no matter what I plug into, in any room.

Even with the Always On, you could still add pedals of your choice. The only real pedal I have is an Ampeg SCR-DI which I bought for amp-less practice, possible DI and perhaps for Ampeg flavor down the road. Other than that, I have no interest in collecting pedals. If I can't get the sound I want from my fingers, bass and EQ, I would need more than pedals! But that is just MHO ;).

Odd thing is, the VTBD sees / has seen more ampless live action as a DI for FOH than my rig(s) :wacky: Gig bag + the VTDB is as painless as it gets. The next small step was a rechargeable battery powered pedalboard. The HPF — because it's variable unlike the VTBD's cab sim — a tuner, and a free space for anything.

Second odd thing is, the Elf can be used as a stand-alone DI, or to drive a backline cab.

Will wait and see what's available. In a fever dream I saw two Elfs, an ABY pedal, and four PJB Cab 27s for a modular 8x7

Wow man. You definitely are a true Masshole. On the flip side my family just got back from a week on the Cape. While it was a nice trip I’m always amazed at how crowded the Cape is. It must have been really nice back in the day though.

Wicked! My mother in law lives on Cape in West Dennis. We spent a week there in June with the Boyz! Third week? 12-19 Nit as crowded- school not out till week after!!

Took in a game at Fenway as well!! Sox Win!!

I looked at the thread and as you might expect people said both and some said it could change depending on what you want. I know I’ve used my compressor all over my relatively short signal chain and it changes things enough that I like to move it around just for experiments sake. However I almost never use it alone. I suspect the HPF is similar.
