Just put this configuration together today. There is still a combo in the mix - the Vox Pathfinder - which is hidden out of sight.

Doc, you’ve come up with the perfect combo concept for the club...invisibility! Who knows, you may have just made our Wiki page. Maybe.

Spent part of the afternoon testing out the Vox pedal. Mikey likey. My brain is finally remembering the box’s few idiosyncrasies and it’s way more fun to play with than any other pedal I’ve owned.

But the biggest difference compared to the last time I messed with it is I think the tones are much better than anything else I’ve tried. Not all, mind you (the dumb synth stuff and junky distortion patches), but the more traditional bass tones are really good.

Also, the flexibility of altering the patches is better than my Zoom pedal. Increments go down to the tenths and what I think is totally cool, Vox marks the preset setting so as you’re flipping through your gain numbers, for example, you’ll see a light appears when you hit the gain they set. It helps me get a better feel when deciding to go higher or lower based on what I’m hearing.

There are 100 presets you can literally turn upside down to find your sound, but those changes can only be saved in spot reserved for 20 of your own creations. When you shut off the unit the 100 go back to default.

Construction is first rate and everything seems like it’ll last a while. It’s got that Vox vibe and therefore, is my new favorite toy for September. It’s plays beautifully with my Markbass combo as I could pretty much snag all the major amp makers’ tones. Reverb/delay are especially nice, though I need to spend more time with the effects.

Finally, and this is my biggest takeaway of this pedal, the price. While I believe it’s always been well under a hundred bucks, I grabbed this from Amazon for a scant $54. I also bought a wall wart to go with for six bucks, bringing the grand total to an unbeatable $60!

Doc and LJB, even if this isn’t a major need but more of a want, grab one ASAP. If ya don’t like it, RodRy will but it from ya at twice the price. Ya can’t lose! If you’re interested in a sample, I recorded something last night on my P bass with a decent SVT tone. PM me your email address and I’ll share it with ya.

Been searching for an Ampeg cabinet to match the Ampeg B2 combo with the badge on the screen of the cabinet. Found couple 210 cabs that match,but too far away for a local pickup,and found 410 cabs also. Most of them too heavy and expensive to ship. Found this 115 cab,at GC,in Saginaw,MI. Shipping was reasonable with them,to my area. Looks like it has rat fur,mine is the tolex covering. Might consider taking the rat fur off,and paint the cab,we will see?View attachment 4397121 View attachment 4397122

CD, strip the fur, sand the wood baby-smooth, and cost it with a couple layers of Duralex bed liner covering. I did that a number of years ago with an SWT cab and it still looks terrific to this day.

I liked the carpet on my Markbass folks. I have a furman power conditioner I Velcro to it. Looks like no one else is a fan? It don’t look as good as my diamond tolex but it can be functional. The carpet is great for whatever you might want to Velcro to it.

Actually found not one, but TWO groups to jam with up here. One is a guy who likes old blues and twangy americana type stuff. Nice guy and patient with someone (me) who has never played in that genre. I even got a cheap fretless for The Band songs we're doing. He has a nice Ampeg combo for me to use. I was originally looking for just one band, but after auditioning with another group (typical rubbed-in-the-dirt classic rock) I was torn between which one to join. My lovely and rather brilliant spouse reminded me that I'm retired and could probably swing both! So now the GK MB212-ii resides at the classic rock space giving me the volume necessary to compete with the drums and (somewhat loud) guitarist. It would have been an easy choice to just jam with the blues guy, except the drummer in the classic rock band was sooooo good! Best of both worlds. Now I gotta go study up on the simple sounding but not so simple to play twangy stuff: Uncle Tupelo, Cracker, The Band, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, Junior Wells, Bottle Rockets...etc.

Heres a weird amp I picked up over the weekend. Its a solid state Teneyck T550 215 combo. Not sure about the wattage, prob 50? Only info Ive found is that ex Ampeg employee made them. The gray covering reminds me of 60s Epiphone cases and amps.

Got to do a small jam/practice with my neighbor the other day. Long time since making noise with other living beings. He played and sang through a small Boss combo, 6 string Taylor acoustic. I drove over (we are all on a couple acres and we are getting deluged from the remains of Ida) with my Rumble 200 and single cut JB. We plunked around for a couple hours on Brown Eyed Girl (surprised myself and pretty much got it down with only a couple hours the week ahead), Wild Horses, The Weight, Cripple Creek, Alison, and a few others. None of which I had ever played until last week or at all. It was really a lot of fun and our audience (spouses and his wife’s two preteen girls) said we did great....Lots of room for improvement, but I think our skill levels were well matched and we both are looking forward to the next time.
The rumble did really well at low volume. Placed about ten feet from the wall not in a corner of the long tall room. Glass and concrete walls and floor but carpets and other soft furniture. Standard flat settings of 10-12-12-10 for R200 tone.

Sounds like fun! My Rumble 25 does great in situations like that.
