the conklin GT-7 thread!!!

There are a lot of things I don't like about Conklins, although I think they have good build quality and tone. I'm also not a big fan of Bill Conklin, either professionally or personally, but I don't want to go into that here.

Having said that, I'm probably going to buy a GT 7 or GTBD 7. There's just no other choice if you want a 7-string production bass.

generally both eBay and Guitar Center will have 'em available for $1000 or less. in either case you'll probably need to do a little tweaking, but they're around.

remember that Guitar Center and Musician's Friend are the same company, so you can peruse the Musician's Friend website for information on their stock.

from the low end,

Stew

Actually, Guitar Center and Musicians Friend are two different companies owned by the same parent company. They sell some brands the other doesnt. I recommend checking with your local stores for whats in stock.

Peace

I have an OBP-3 in my GT-7 fretless that sounds fantastic.

Hey sheepdog.. I live in New Hope which is about 16 miles south of Huntsville.. Maybe we can arrange something where you can drive up for a day and give mine a test drive..

I have three Conklins..

GT-7 fretless
Custom shop hollowbody 7 string
Custom shop 8 string.

I love the look of the Dickens model. Am I just seeing things or does the bridge hang off the body slightly?

The edge of the bridge just about does, but not quite. The lower rear corner of the bridge is still on the bass, but it's tip is basically tangent to the edge of the bass.
