glad everything is all right. I played in a gig in an old building the other day and my bud just handed me an end to an extension chord so plugged the amp in and fired it up. not too long after while playing there was a noticeable hum like my bass had a bad ground so i plugged up my other active bass and same thing. then some bad cracklin. i started to get nervous, thinkin it was the amp. i checked the outlet and it had an adapter because the place had no ground plug. WAS LACK OF GROUND CAUSING MY AMP TO HUM AND CRACKLE? i took it home played for an hour with both basses and no problem. oh and does any one know where to sells grill cloth that is the closest match to fenders? im gonna grill cloth my goliath grill for pimp factor just untill i pay the amp off then order the 410neo. hopefully they will still be available in 4 to 5 months due to the rarity of neodymium.

thanks mr. mullet! yea i seen a couple a places that have the cloth but they dont look dead on so was just wonderin if anybody had experience with buying a dead match. but like i said its goin on a goliath III just for now till i get the fender neo. i was gonna get the 410neo but think (thanks to tim1) the 610 is a much better decision. Tim whats up with ur winged c's?

I wanted the 610 but went with the 410 because I couldn't justify that kind of price jump. So far the 410 doesn't have a problem handling my super bassman and it sounds amazing!

The 610 probably costs so much more as they would have to wind a special run of voice coils to keep the 4 ohm overall impedance?? Well worth it anyway IMO - you can use it anywhere. Winged C 6L6s arrived today, just waiting on a JJ 12T7. I will post as soon as they are in.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm sure the 610 is killer but I decided that if I needed anything more than the 410 i'd just get another, highly doubt I'll need it though!

check it.....xlr female to 1/4 cable connected to a 1/4 in female to 1/4 in female adapter connected to 1/4 male to 1/8 in female adapter to headphones. would this work on the DI out on the 100t? also so many connections/adapters = sound degradation correct? just thinkin about why there isnt a headphone jack on the 100t. i know theres a power soak on the DI. Couldnt the power soak be used for both the DI and headphone jacks? There prolly isnt any fender engineers reading this thread...lol. or maybe there is:)

I've been reading over this thread for the last few months, and I really would like to pick one of these heads up in the next few months as my new band starts playing shows. I'm thinking that this is a bit more practical than the Super Bassman, since we won't be playing anything other than small clubs. It'll most likely be matched up with the matching 4x10 cab. Two questions regarding the amp though;

1) Has anyone tried or thought about pushing a power amp with this thing? Since you can run it in silent mode, I thought that you could take the XLR out into a power amp, and use that to push the cab. Since the XLR is post-power tubes I'd think the tone coming out of it would be a close match to running it through the speakers alone. That way if I ever needed to have more power on tap than the 100 watts I could do that. I'd be lugging an extra piece of gear, but overall I think there would be extra versatility in having that available.

2) Anyone running this with any dirt pedals, either through the clean or OD channels? I've got a Pork Loin OD and Woolly Mammoth fuzz that I'm using currently, I'm thinking that I'd like to use the PL as either a light or heavy OD and use the onboard OD channel as the opposite, then kick in the fuzz as needed. Almost like a three or four channel option then. Thoughts?

I fitter the Winged C 6l6s and JJ tubes today. Haven't had time for a lengthy listen but initial impressions are - first, it still works(sigh of relief) !!!
Definitely tighter, cleaner bass and low mids at louder volumes, nice compression on the vintage channel when you crank it. Trebles just might be a little less but I am not sure on that. I think I have to turn the volume controls a tad higher for the same volume, but that is not a worry, or it might be that I just think that because it is definitely tighter/more controlled in the lows and I think deeper.
It reminds me a bit more of my SVT VR now so I think the mids must have improved. The bottom line - was it worth it? Well, I was very happy before and considering that I got the Winged Cs cheap and already had the JJ 12AX7s the answer is probably yes. If I had to fork out for all new tubes probably I would have stuck with it and waited for one of the originals to blow.
I can give a more definitive statement after the next gig. I suspect that I will definitely notice the greater punch/tightness these tubes give.

I've thought about that. It seems to me that if you're going to need more than the 100T can give, then there'll surely be mains help, and I think I might prefer to go silent mode, DI to FOH so the good power tube sound is coming through the mains, and then use the 100T's preamp out to feed the power amp. I wouldn't get the tube power amp sound onstage, but seems like priority would be to have it through the mains? Otherwise, you could 'Y' off the DI and feed both FOH and the power amp, but that could cause problems if the mixer can't handle the full line level that the power amp will want to see.
I have a Crown PS-400 (what a boat anchor, but a beautiful sounding amp, especially bridged mono) that I could lug to bigger gigs for this purpose. And I take my GK 800RB with me to gigs as a back up anyway, so that may be a possibility, even though the 100T seems to give me as much or more than the 800RB ever did.

Hmmm…. I don't think so. I would think impedance & level would be so out of whack that it'd be a waste, even with a a straight XLR to 1/8" pigtail. Probably better to go silent mode and take preamp out to a headphone amp, or DI out to a headphone amp if you just have to have the power tube sound for practice.
Personally, after learning the 100T, I don't use it for practice or band rehearsal any longer. Don't want to put any more wear and tear on it than gigs are going to do anyway.

yea ur right. i have the rumble 350 plus a hartke a70 combo (which is an awesome lil amp and both amps have headphones out) to use for home/practice/rehearsal. but man whenever i walk by the 100t i just want to crank it for those sweet sweet sounds!! Ftrain im assuming thats ur review on sweetwater for the 100t (duh its just about word for word as ur review on TB). i put the 100t on the sweetwater card (approved for 5000!) and am really tryin to pay it off in 6 months so no interest (i put half up so i have 750 to pay) But man i go there and drool over the neo cabs almost everyday practicing self control!!!LOL. If sweetwater has fender products for the 18 months w/ no interest u best believe i would have that 610!!!!:bassist: im obsessed.....

I know exactly what you mean. I'm trying to think of some possible reason to justify a 610 Neo and a Super Bassman, which is insane. But I want it, what can I say? And same deal, every time I see the 100T I want to get those bottles glowing.

Thanks for the response Freight Train. I guess the way I'm looking at the 100T plus power amp option vs. the Super Bassman is that you'd have a bit more versatility that way. I'm thinking that the 100T would be enough for any gig I'd be playing at this point, pretty much any club over 100+ people would have PA support anyways as well.

I think i did that right...heres some pics of my rig..... And you guys are not gonna believe this.... my sweetwater rep just called and emailed me to tell me he pulled some strings to get me the 18 months of no interest on the 610!!!! 1400 dollars is alot tho and and doin squat w/o clearin it with the boss. What to do what to do?! 80 bucks a month really aint too much. it already costd me 3000 a month to live.....80 bucks a month.......
