The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

You are right, Matt. Down here we only get twelve months warranty. I have never been able to understand why Fender allows this situation to occur, if they have sufficient confidence in their product in America to offer five years you would think they could extend that worldwide. I am not sure what the warranty situation is in Australia.......Rod???

We get the 5 year warranty here in Australia. .. at least I'm 99% sure we do.
So I'd hope you do too. ..in NZ.
Sucks if ya don't! Plain rude if we don't get the same warranty here (& NZ) as the USA AND Canadia !

I wrote that b4 I saw yr post @Tim1 Wow! That hurts.
I'll check mine asap & report back. I THOUGHT I had 5 yrs of warranty. And I'll be a VERY crabby - long standing customer of my local store (a Fender dealer) - if I don't have a couple of years left on my warranty. That's fer sho !:hyper:

Well that just plain makes me mad:rage: if Aussie gets five years and we get less. I will have to double check on it but I am pretty sure that it is only one year here.

I checked them all, made sure none were micro phonic. I've had tube amps since 1990, so I know the drill. I swapped out the pre and PI tubes one by one and it still happens. I'm l think it's a bad solder joint. It's going back on Friday.

Here she is! I actually need to go out and get an appropriate speaker cable, as I only have speakon-->1/4" right now. Soooo it'll be a little while before I post a good review. But I think it looks pretty great on my '66 Guild Thunderbass 2x15. The drivers inside aren't original (they're cheap PA speakers that have been in there since I traded for it), but I'll be building a tall, matching 4x12 for it once I buy a box joint jig for my table saw.

Hey guys,

It's been awhile but I wanted to pop in with a scenario that many of you are probably familiar with. A few months ago I took possession of a new Genzler rig (Magellan 800 and 2 Bass Array cabs). I really, really like the rig especially for gigging. Light, reliable, simple and sounds great.

This led me to put the SB300 on ice for awhile as I wanted to learn the new amp well.

Today, for some reason, I decided to plug my Spector NS 2 into the Fender SB and my Dually 215. Holy cow, I forgot what I had been missing. This amp just amazes me every time I fire it up. It does everything well. Some things even better than my '76 SVT/810. And that overdrive channel...yes dat OD! Nothing like having the real deal after the simulated stuff.

OK, carry on, just was super fired up after bringing it out of hibernation today. I think it's going to get the rest of my work for the summer season. Brutal amp.

I feel ya. I was on vacation from work and had time to pull out a few amps at home and do a side by side comparison.

The thing is they all sound really good, however the SB300 is a clear winner. Nothing beats 300 watts of all tube power.

I will be gigging the SB300 tomorrow and for the rest of my gigs I have booked through November no doubt.

I love all the gushing posts reaffirming people's love for this amp. I have the same feelings everytime I wheel it out also.

Finding I'm using the Neo 410 over the 610 fairly often too. I love both, but really enjoying the 410.

The only thing I have that comes close is my RPM or VT Bass into a power amp with my NV412. It's close, but where it lacks is the heft behind the high notes. Can't explain it, just something about it.

OK so I found the problem. V1 is a crappy tube. One side of it was failing when it heated up. I slapped in a JJ, used DeOxit all up in there and the other pre tubes. I played it for an hour and a half and no issues. Just awesome. V2 is a hissy POS. The stock pre tubes are Sovteks which I have always, always hated.

And yes, it sounds really, really, really great.
