The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Well...I'm finally a proud owner of a new super bassman...this head has some definite punch and ridiculous awesome tone! Wow...I'm totally blown away at how good this thing sounds! I've been using a bassman 500, great hybrid but that does not even come close to the warm tone of the SB! I've preferred the gain channel on the 500 but after playing the SB a little this morning the vintage channel is awesome! The weight of the head is perfect...anything more would be too much, way easier than then luging an svt around from what I can remember. I'm super happy with this head, definitely worth the wait!

The left cab is a full range cab.. the other one is a "sub".. both have Eminence speakers in them. As for the amps, i think that they are close enough, but i feel that the SB300 is a tad bit "lusher" than the Rumble Bass 300. As for weight, they feel pretty much about the same when you pick them up.. but i would say that the Rumble Bass 300 amp is a bit heavier than the SB300. There are more tubes in the Rumble Bass 300 than the SB300 too.. But i have not used the Rumble Bass with my Epifani 15's.. i need to do that..

So...are the heads very similar in tone and heft? How about the cabs? Close enough to be interchangeable?

99z3...did you custom build the rumble bass amp? Is it based on the fender 300t model? It's pretty cool looking!

Yeah.. gives that unique look don't it..
not so unique... that's what the blackface era amps used. i just had a 63 blonde bassman clone made for me, just the bass channel, so its actually smaller than the ashdown little bastard, and we put the cheese wheels on just to make it legit! the eq circuit on that amp is very unique. the bass control is very interesting and the treble is more like a gain... my guitar friend calls it a marshall killer, but its an awesome bass amp too. sorry for the thread derail! i also have a fender bassman!!
