The Great Bass Preamp/DI Comparison

I saw that but I don't really want to pay that much for it, but thanks. Shipping from Europe looks to be around $100. I'd go 150 ea total for booster or compressore, which is about what I sold mine for.

Those may be new though. Still more than I want to pay.

I don't think you're going to find a Super Booster for that price any longer, but wise decision to pass this one up. I paid +/- $230 shipped not 6mo ago, and that wasn't much more than I paid for one five years previous. I do wonder how rare they are that even five years ago it was very difficult to track one down! Great sounding pedal, though. My speculation has always been that it offered the best of the MB sound at too low a price and that couldn't be allowed to continue!

Guess I'll be on the lookout for a more recent pedal that delivers good clean tone with great articulation and low noise floor that can easily switch between modern and vintage for a reasonable price. Not asking too much, am I?

My current board is just fine though, no hurry.

Got my torpedo cab m installed on my board finally and dialed it in. So far I'm in love I just need to buy a few cabs from the two notes library as it only includes 5 bass cabs from the factory and no Ampeg 8x10. I'm currently using the Ampeg 4x10 He cab impulse and it's decent enough for now. The cab m does everything my q strip did plus adds the tube power amp simulation making my whole setup sound monsterous.

That's one heckuva spaceship! I gotta admit that HXFX is still pretty tempting to me.

You can get some cabs for a donation or free on the Shift Line site including two 8x10s... that might sort you out.

Unrelated, I thought I'd drop a tip that there's a pretty cheap EBS ValveDrive listed used in GC's database right now since some of the folks here wanted one. I think it's the first version. Missing a knob, not that it matters much.

Wow. Just sold mine on Reverb for €100 shipped. That's what it's worth for me, but got to reckon i'm not that into MB stuff, except their Compressore which is pretty great.

Went with these at yesterday's pratice - first one in the last 3 months, so cool ! A little too on the tubey-saggy side for my taste, i'll try other tonestack and od options, but the Oracle is stellar ! Just received it in the mailbox and had literally 30 minutes to find a spot on the pedalboard, will do (a bit) neater job next time.

Thanks man I've been honing this board for quite awhile and I'd say this setup is getting uber close to perfection my next move is to do some tube swapping in my Meatsmoke preamp to tame the distortion on the high gain channel and then I plan to upgrade the Behringer p16m mixer to the new Midas dp48. After that if I can't get the Meatsmoke working right I may send it in to Verellen to get the high gain channel changed to match channel 1.

How's that Resonant Equalizer? I've been interested in that and thinking of swapping my HPF+LPF to try one next time they come around.

From someone who has let a L+HPF go, after getting another pedal with one built in, think twice before you do.

I've been astounded how many times I've wished I still had it in addition to the ones on my preamp.

Using one at the end of your effects chain, as well as another before certain effects or in switchable loops opens up all kinds of interesting options. Or the RFE and the L+HPF paired up would be fun too.

Make no mistake...I love my HPF+LPF and if I could only take one pedal to a gig that would be it. As I understand it the RFE is/does everything my HPF+LPF does with more options. So wouldn't really be giving anything up as I'd see it and be gaining additional mid controls. I don't run enough effects to where I'd want/need both pedals on the board necessarily. But I'd never be without at least one of them.

@uwrussl RFE is more powerful for me, hence the Resonance knob and the mids settings. It doesn't change the 12dB per octave slope, but you can tune it to have a more 'dramatic' filtering effect. Sometimes i felt 'lacking' what i thought was dB slope with the hpf/lpf, using it with other hpf devices, i don't with the RFE. I found also myself not using the Gain knob much on the hpf/lpf, as it can be run, just like the RFE, up to 24V. Btw the hpf/lpf is a great device, don't get me wrong, but the RFE fits my needs better.
I *think the RFE isn't on its best location on my pedalboard atm, i'll have a try after the compressor.

That sounds like it's exactly what I was thinking/hoping it'd be like. Definitely want to get my hands on one. Thanks for the info.

Yes I use a x18 currently I'd have to get the hub 4 interface and x32 to take full advantage of some of the dp48's features tho if I understand it right tho which im already planning on upgrading to down the road.

Not totally related but the torpedo is about to receive a firmware upgrade with cool new features (preamp, enhancer, noise gate).

Don't know about mooer, I never cared for them, they're the behringer of the pedal world.
