Fair enough. I already got a torpedo cab m and love it. My guitarist just doesn't want to spend that much if the mooer radar tube power amp simulation is good enough plus its smaller and would leave room to upgrade his preamp.

Jonesing for an Oracle. If only I could justify the purchase haha

I see on the oracle there's an HPF...thoughts on running one before compression vs after? I know you've often had a Broughton HPF on the front of your chain. Seems I used to see it more in past photos of your rig(s) than more recent ones. Just curious if it's handled with your preamps or moving away from it, etc.

The Oracle is killer. So right now in the preamp space I have the following:
Oracle
Noble
Atomic Bass Box
NUX Melvin Lee Davis
Retrospec Squeezebox
Sushi Particle Accelerator
Onkart TurboTore (a sweet parametric that could serve as a preamp)
DSM Bass Simplifier

I recently had the Grace Alix but sold it to fund getting an Oracle back. I sold the Oracle to get the Noble... but immediately missed the Oracle.

All of these devices are interesting and enjoyable in their own way. People have been asking me for a Noble and Oracle direct comparison so I plan to do that.

I don't use a stand alone HPF anymore since I'm not using any cabs. The venues I am playing all tend to have the ability to apply a HPF to my signal if need be, but most have multi-arrays and subs so the HPF is less of a necessity. Devices like the Noble and Bass Box and Oracle have onboard HPF type functions and I tend to keep them at end of chain.

Gotcha. Have you experienced any benefit on compression using the HPF in front?

There can be some benefit because you are eliminating low frequencies that could cause a compressor to more aggressively activate. If available pedalboard space were no issue putting a HPF at the beginning of the chain and cutting out 40hz and below could be helpful.

Not at all what you asked, but I also found some benefit in using my HPF/LPF at the front of my chain when using overdrives. It gives more mid presence to the drive(s). If I had more than one, I'd have one at the beginning and end of my chain.

Perfect that's what I was thinking.

I switch a few basses and the U•Bass is a bit boomy. Plus I also have a 6 I swap in occasionally. Thought that might clean it up a bit.
