I'm also considering the EHX Tri to run OD and octave in parallel and mix a bit of dry back in. Keep the full sound while tightening it up a bit overall.

I'm typically direct these days as well. Clean blend for drives/dirts/fuzz is a must for me. Makes a huge difference.
Jonesing for an Oracle. If only I could justify the purchase haha
I see on the oracle there's an HPF...thoughts on running one before compression vs after? I know you've often had a Broughton HPF on the front of your chain. Seems I used to see it more in past photos of your rig(s) than more recent ones. Just curious if it's handled with your preamps or moving away from it, etc.
The HPF on the Arkham stuff isn't very steep (6db/oct, I think) and is set around 100hz. So, it's pretty different from the stand alone units which are common in these parts.
The saving grace for me is that the Oracle is inspired by the Portaflex series. I had a Portaflex PF-20T which I loved, but have recently sold because I can acheive all those tones with my SVP Pro. Hopefully I can stay strong...
Interested to know who else in this thread has an LA-1A compressor, and which preamps they are using it with? (EDIT) Other than the Oracle that is!!

Oracle and PC-2A is insanely good, especially with 2-pickups basses, LA-1A should be pretty tasty with it too. @tedsalt got both i guess
The Noble and Cali76 is crazy good also. It put an immediate stop to my search for preamp and Compressors and actually exceeded my expectations in a live setting.

Nice small board. It's not on topic and probably a stupid thing to say, but the Shure GLXD is one of my favorite pedal...
I've always used wireless for the last 10 or so years and really love the ability to walk out in the house to see how my bass sets during setup and practices with the bands I play with. The Shure is the best I've used and unlike the Line 6 G30 I used for years I've never had a drop or interference. It is built like a tank also and the added tuner in the footswitch is a plus.
I use my hx fx for this have a clean and dirty chain and blend to taste its awesome.
Sorry, didn't read 2 posts above... Well, i wouldn't say that Oracle is mimicing the B-15 preamp section. It's based on a James Tonestack, and got strong mid-content if needed, but the breakup quality is definitely not the same as octal tubes, and the P-15's tone (don't have a B-15 to compare) is kinda smoother and thicker to me. Oracle is overall tighter, and has many nice additional features, the Range control, the High switch, HPF and so on, making it a very flexible preamp. It's not 'that' Ampeg-ish sounding to me, or at least it has other tones to play with. Maybe you would get these tones with your SVP, idk.
That is my Roscoe built and received in January of this year. Best bass I've ever had in my hands. The fingerboard is a flamed Katalox and all the woods blend together perfectly IMO.

Your TB handle is incredibly appropriate.
The LA-1a is one of those compressors that works well pretty much in front of anything...
"Valveman" started out back with Window 95 because I sold industrial flow equipment like valves and flow meters, etc. at that time. It does fit within the current context. 28 valves in the pictured gear.
