Seems like you're missing a stage clock on your board. This might be up your alley?

Anyone try one of these jive pedals yet ? Maybe it can be categorized as sort of a pre with od

I have one inbound and will report

Just watching that video now, as a matter of fact! lol

I have a Jive Reel and love it... Great sounding warm overdrive with a little something special to it. Similar to the way people talk about the EP Boost... "Can't quite put my finger on it, but it just does something to my sound that I love."

Not sure why, but I didn't think of it as a "preamp" until right now though. Derp. Guess I need to do a 3rd Covid Board Rebuild now. lol

admittedly this was ordered in the wee hours of the morning after having a healthy amount of grandpas cough medicine.

seems cool still though. I doubt I'd use the drive Too much but the always on sound seemed like it was appealing. One of those more gooder pedals haahah

Well, I don't think grandpa's cough medicine steered you wrong at all. "Always On" and "More Gooder" are exactly why I pulled the trigger on it as well, after seeing the Jive Reel in Gregor's 33 Bass Pedals video. I can't believe I've never actually incorporated it into my board yet though... Just got it out of the toy bin! :)

Well, it wasn't fueled by grandpa's cough medicine, but since we were talking about the Tubeworks Blue Tube as a preamp earlier in the thread...

Got a little and much needed ray of sunshine this morning, friends! I opened my email a little bit ago and saw an alert from eBay (the single, one and only alert I have set up on there!) about a Tubeworks Pure Tube listing. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for one for almost 5 years now... they rarely show up, and I've always missed them in the past. I was FINALLY able to snag one, and it showed up for less than half the price that they normally show up for! Should be here around the end of August/beginning of September, coming from overseas.

They're totally not pedalboard friendly, but I'm very much looking forward to comparing it to the Blue Tube and experimenting with some different tubes.

You'll need to turn a Ouija board into your pedalboard an put that on there.

Are you referring to the Simone? I've asked the builder to make one available but so far no luck.

That is a real head scratcher. I don't know how much an advertisement in a bass magazine costs, but I venture to guess it's not cheap and you can't get to hear sound clips or get real world advice.

When I started this tread years ago, I did so to share my experience selecting a preamp. What it's turned into is far more. Several people participating and products being shown I've never even heard of.

The thought crossed my mind about asking for demo units from manufacturers, but I didn't want to feel pressured to positively review something I didn't like just because someone was nice enough to send it. So I've bought a sold a lot of preamps.

That reminds me...I'm clinging to my FEA DE-CL compressor because I still love it, but I really need to let it go to help offset the cost of the LA-1A. I still think the FEA may be the best compressor I've ever used. But I will say, that tiny Becos with the sidechain "deep" setting that doesn't compress the lows as much is fantastic!
