I'm really surprised no one has made a preamp similar to the MarkBass Tube 800 amp. A blend knob to blend between tube and solid state.

To my ears, most solid state gear sounds so sterile and dry. Tubes seem to provide a texture and warmth that I haven't found in any SS preamp.

The Noble has 2 outs, a line out which is level controlled by the volume knob on the unit and the XLR out. So it's similar to most other DI boxes in that regard, just with a bit more control over the 1/4" output. I don't know if that's what you're after, but I typically am just using the XLR output.

Cool...I actually need a unaffected through put to send a pass through signal to my backline.

The just DIs only usually do have it like the Radials, RNDI and for Preamps the Q-strip has it. (Thats one of the main reasons why I use it). The Messenger has it as well.

The Starlifter does not :meh: and the Trilobyte does not either, its tuner output is actually buffered but from what I'm hearing its really not doing much.
However knowing that Trilobyte does note have a pass though it is enough to remove it off my list.
I would just use the Starlifter and Lehle P splitter (thats a lot of real-estate). For now the Starlifter is a studio tool if I actually need EQ-ing from my end.

So the RNDI came in :thumbsup:

Clearly there is something added to harmonic structure of this DI.

So far this is the champ.

In my ghetto little home set up it sounds great, then again the J48 sounds good here as well but not so much to FOH for my use.

I will be able to tell more Monday morning when I go to an empty theater alone and A/B/C these units over a full PA. :)

I had the first gig today with the Trickfish Minnow and during practice had the chance to walk out in the audience and hear the bass. It definitely has great clarity and punch and sets really nice. The preamp isn't as hot as the Nordstrand Starlifter though so I had to use much more volume to get the same presence in the mix. Honestly couldn't go wrong with either of these preamp-DI's.

There is something very pleasant about the Jensen transformer. If there was a touch more spark to the JDI I would stop right there and have (3) of them. :thumbsup:

Tomorrow I’m going to run through 6-7 different units through FOH system and then I’m going to do it with one of the drummers I work it, so I can hear the different DIs in light mix with percussion. :bassist:

It’s going to cost me though...I have to by my drummer coffee :facepalm:
