My apologies again to MS Johnson, I think I've got you all sorted now (bloody well hope I have) and thanks fgenus for the info about the Gripmaster thingy. And Phil, yeah we do have camels here, the only place in the world with feral camels (now thats a real honour), they're around Alice Springs and Ayers Rock, in the desert everywhere. And they don't hop.

Fretbuzz, I wasn't born with this manly pinky. The consensus seems to be that yes, you'll exercise your finger muscles with a Gripmaster or a rubber ball or a small dog (I've heard ****zus **yield excellent results), unfortunately in a way that will not benefit playing. You'll end up with a nice firm handshake*.

Exercising those muscles while playing OTOH...







*handy when shaking down underclassmen for pizza money.

all kidding aside mr. Johnson. i agree that actually playing the bass is the "best" way to strenghthen the fingers, forearm etc... would you also agree that the gripmaster can help to improve control of individual fingers on demand. maybe im wrong, but it seems like ive gotten improvement in that area. anyway, while im at work, i'll get a little gripmaster in, when i get home, i'll get full action on my neck.

An even better way to strengthen your fingers, forearms etc, is to play double bass every day, but that still playing the bass to strengthen your fingers. It does work wonders on your BG dexterity.
