I went to the local waste disposal centre a couple of weeks ago to get rid of some stuff when a car pulled up alongside mine and I saw the occupant remove what looked like a very servicable guitar case. I asked if it was being thrown away and I was told it was because it had been laid around the cellar for a couple of years not being used. Told him that in that case I could make use of it and he gave it to me. I was very surprised when I opened the case and found this.

When I got it home I found that the pre amp was fried but £30 got it converted to passive and it now sounds great. It's a BTB300BG and, apart from the conversion it's in as new condition, even down to the plastic covering on the back plates and truss rod cover.
BTW I am not a bassist but I've been persuaded by this bit of luck to give it a try.

It's posted as an SR305 and it has soapbar humbuckers but it only has 3 knobs...

Look on the back of your headstock. Usually the first two numbers on the serial are the year it was made.

As I said before, that isn't my bass. That's just a picture of a used bass at a Guitar Center that I found on their "used gear" page. I wanted to see if anyone could tell what "era" it was from based on the pic.
