Had the chane to own three burners before moving up to two 2005 and 08 BSR5. The burners are good but the tone on them are thin compare to the expensive Smiths. Other than that I love them both...
just got my 1st Smith bass! Now I know why these things cost so much! Best bass i ever put my hands on:

disclaimer: my obsessive/compulsive nature kicked in...i'm so proud of my smith bass aquisition that i have a need to be assigned a number. Wednesday i will be getting my first ken smith. I'm very happy! I got a BSR6MW Tiger Maple and Walnut Core. I'll be sure to post up pictures as soon as i can.
Hate to be a copy cat, but if I ever get a Smith it will be this one right here!! Nice!!

Too bad I never had such an opportunity, here in Italy as of today, yet! This much treasured bass is one of (if not "the") favorite basses ever in my whole (56 yrs old) life! Ask Adrien Feraud that played his own Burner V for years and finally had it recreated in Japan. Mine was black but I removed the painting and just covered with a light layer of hand rubbed nitro.

It plays with lots of authority and "guts"; even sound right out the bass with zero or small tone adjustments, if needed. In addition, it plays good anywhere on the full access 24 frets fretboard. Light, sustaining, resonant and ergonomically just perfect for me. If checked with the above glossy pics... well, I still love a lot my "Cinderella" K.S. Burner...
even if my jaws drop looking at the 7 string one!!!I like this bass to the point that if I had 5000 euro given as a gift "out of the blue" with the constraint of buying a solid body bass, I would seek for an old body shape/head model 5 string Usa made Ken Smith or would shoot directly for a Feraud signature...
