Vision, since you still list Ken Smith in your signature, does that mean you did not sell your BSR5GN :D?

I got mine a few weeks ago, I'm loving it!! I'm gassing for one in Walnut so I might trade this one in the near future. :hiding:

Really? On my BSR5GN it felt like a true 18mm. It could just bee an overall feel for the neck though because I'm used to the more chunky profile of 5 string jazz basses vs. that sleek, fast Smith neck.

Oh I love the way it plays and sounds. Actually, Al "the burner" Turner used it on his new albm and loved it as well. It is boring from the side being plain. Every one else has these 9 piece exotic thru necks. I wouldn't trade this one for the world.

Just received my first Ken Smith. It is an oldie but goodie. I will post pictures in a few days. Serial number 115. Bought from a fellow TB'er. 4-string, Bubinga Top over Tiger Maple Body with a gorgeous Ebony board. Armstrong P/J pups and Ken Smith 2-band Pre. Sounds GREAT, needs a bit of fretwork, so I am off to the Ken Smith Factory this coming Wednesday!

Well, I happened to stop by the Atlanta Bass Gallery today and as luck would have it. UPS had been by just a short time before and delivered my latest Smith. As I posted earlier, it is a BSR5EG with 19mm spacing. It has a flamed walnut top with maple/walnut/maple/walnut wings. 5 piece neck with ebony fretboard and matching flamed walnut headstock...all in a nice laquer finish.

The bass is actually better than I thought it would be. The tone is better than any of the other Smiths I have owned. Ken definitely has it down! It feels and plays great. The 19mm spacing is perfect. I have become so used to playing 19mm that when I played my 18mm BSR5GN fretless the other day, I started cramping up.

So, here's to another great Smith!

I will try to post some more pictures later..this is just the one that Jim snapped at the Bass Gallery. If you have any bass needs, these are the guys who can help you out!

I've owned 5 or so Smiths over the years. 2 of them had the switches, 3 did not. I still own 2 Smiths. The most current one is on this page. The other is a BSR5GN fretless that does not have the switches. On the fretless, I do not think it would be worth the $350 or so that they charge to have it done. If it were a fretted one that I played more often. I may consider it. The charge is pretty hefty but if you play the instrument a lot. It may be worth it. It probably depends on the music you play, as well. If you really need that extra bottom end and guts that come with the series switch. Then you probably want to think about it. Just my 2 cents

You also have to consider that you are looking at shipping costs on top of the cost of the work. It can get expensive real quick.

I'm used to Jazz 5 basses also. Thats why I was so suprised to not really notice any difference between the Smith and the Sadowsky. The Roscoe felt much "closer" than my Sadowsky while the Smith feels great! :cool:

Hi guys, had bought also a Smith bass (my first) is a 10 years old bass with a bolt on neck, BSR6M with 2 switches in good old swamp ash body. I will get it in few weeks. So have anyone the same bass here?
I'm happy if anyone could say something what expects me with this bass.
