The LGBT Bass Players Club!

We should all just be able to love whom we love.

I guess that's true. But my attraction for (a very few number of) men has been, to this point, purely sexual. I still don't see myself "loving" a man. I dunno, maybe I could. That's one of the many reasons why I struggle with the notion of me being bisexual.

I don't think it's weird at all. Even though folks my age might call it Bisexual, my kids inform me the acceptable lingo is Pansexual.

Pansexual sounds too broad for me. No offense, but I wouldn't think of dating and/or having sex with a transgendered/ transexual person; it's would be just too weird for me. If I'm barely accepting (and over the Internet, I haven't told anyone IRL) my attraction towards men... Or maybe I'm reading too much into the "pan-" section of that word.

How 'bout replacing bisexual with "cissexual"? Some men have been born with a female body and vice versa, so this would simply rule out being sexually attracted to those of us (and no offense taken <3 ). IDK if the term has been used like that, mostly (& erroneusly) it's used as synonymous with cis-gender. But in a strictly literal sense it would mean being sexually attracted to cis-gendered people, ie. those men & women who aren't transgender or intergender, which is what the old "bisexual" used to mean, when gender wasn't understood as broadly it's nowadays...

I prefer to think of myself as a 'people person", if I like (or love) someone their gender doesn't matter. If I have to have a label Bi-Sexual works for me. ;)

I'm still kinda confused on the matter. Truth is I can appreciate and (very possibly) feel attraction towards pretty/cute people, regardless of gender.

I kinda envision myself as having a steady girlfriend and/or female partner and/ or wife (if I ever marry) but appreciating male beauty too, when there is beauty to be appreciated. That might even include some transgendered men who look slightly feminine without overdoing it. Maybe I'm too picky, but I wouldn't go out with a macho type. I'm not sure if I'd even date another man, but it doesn't mean I can't have some eye candy (from both genders, that is).

Gah, human sexuality can be so complicated sometimes!

Ooh, this sounds lovely to me!

The most important thing, I think, is not to let (your) expectations become a hindrance: if it feels good, don't be afraid to do it. This is something I've been thinking a lot about lately: often, I realize I'm afraid to even think of some things because I feel that they're something that's not a part of me. Even though they could turn out to be important or nice or even both! Most of the time, it's myself that's doing the expecting, and nobody else will care one way or the other.

Love,

Enne

Thanks. But I'm not really sure how lovely that really is since it's pretty much physical cuteness/ prettiness I'm talking about.

But at the very least I'm not denying to myself my attraction towards a few members of my own sex. Recalling way back, I've always had that but I denied it to myself. The oldest story in the book when it comes to sexuality, I guess.

Exactly my thought on the matter!

Speak of the devil, check out the people-person on the bass in this recently-surfaced video
Live at the "Bug Jar" in Rochester. That stage was a tight squeeze! Especially for a somewhat clumsy guy like me. But we had a great soundman that night... pros and cons to every venue I suppose!

Exactly. When they wanna know that much, it's about time to quote then a per minute rate for the details ;-)

I've had people say to me that coming out is a process. Because I've relationship with women in the distant past - however disastrous - it was hard to see where things might go. Not to mention how that might complicate my understanding of my sexuality.

Over time I've learned that I'm absolutely and totally gay. For me, with my religious upbringing, coming to terms with with my sexuality has been a gut wrenching experience.

So there we go. Not pansexual, just gay. And I've not be so relived in my life. :bawl:

P.S. I'm not a secular humanist. Odd that my religious past would make things so bloody difficult.

Might help if you concentrated less on the "put to death" line in the Bible and concentrate more on the "judge not lest ye be judged" part ;) There are so many capital offenses in the Bible that are just plain stupid that I don't know why you'd take them seriously these days. Also, try to remember that the Bible was written by men trying to control the population's behavior through intimidation of the afterlife. And these people who try to call gay people out on their behavior referencing the Bible have plenty of skeletons in the closets of their own lives, so how can you even take them seriously for 5 minutes? I always say "Jesus is great...his followers, not so much sometimes."
